View Full Version : Help me convince my Best Friend and Family to meet us in WDW!
MrsGrumpy 12-31-2007, 01:03 PM Once again, I turn to my MousePad Pals for help!
Our next trip to WDW is planned for July '09. I am trying to convince my best friend, her husband and kids to meet up with us there.
We have been best friends for 23 years, our families are very close and get along great, and a few months ago, they moved 1500 miles away. Since we are saving (have been saving for almost 4 years) for another vacation to WDW, and it will be a while before we can afford to fly up to visit them, I am hoping to get them to join us on our WDW vacation.
They have been to Disneyland several times, but never to WDW. Please help me describe the magic of the parks, staying onsite, etc. etc. Once it gets rolling, I will send her a link, and get her to join MP.
Thanks friends! :D
Drince88 12-31-2007, 02:21 PM I think WDW is a great place for trips like this. Neither of you has to crowd into the others house, yet you're still really near each other. You don't HAVE to spend 24/7 with the other family (but you can!) and there's plenty of things to do to keep all ages interested.
What better way to see WDW AND get to visit with your friends all at once!

What she said.
Disney World is for everyone. Little kids, teenagers, young parents, adults with no kids, adults with kids, adults that had kids but their kids now have kids, young adults, single people, families, grandparents, great-grandparents.
There's something for everyone at Disney World. The resorts are so nice that if one person doesn't want to go to the parks (and I've traveled with people like that), they can find plenty of things right at the resort to do. There are attractions just for kids, there are thrill rides, there are a ton of attractions that everyone can enjoy together. There's nighttime things. There's babysitting services available. There's sports galore. (About the only sports I can think of that Disney doesn't have is bowling).
We don't go to Disney World for the attractions. We go for the charm, the people, the magical feeling you get when you first step on the grounds.

I like that Cathy! And neither one of us has to cook! Even Better!:)

You are so right, disnut8! Something for everyone. :) I begin to feel the magic when we land in Orlando. And checking in at the resort...all the theming in the lobby...and then stepping into the themed room. From beginning to end, it's all good.

Well, if they've been to DL, then they know about the indescribable "magic" of the place. But with WDW, instead of just having 2 parks to choose from (or 1 1/2 - sorry, DCA!), you now have FOUR separate parks to hold your attention. Plus there are 2 major water parks and 2 mini-golf course, and several full size world class golf courses. And don't forget the many totally unique hotels. You could spend a day easily just touring the hotels and not run out of interesting things to see.
And there's one more important thing in Florida that DL and Harbor Blvd. just can't give you - total immersion into the Disney vibe. Once you cross over the border, you're not in the real world any more - you're in DISNEY WORLD! It's hard to describe the feeling, but you'll know it when you feel it. From the moment you wake up till the second you crash into bed, you're surrounded by the vibe of being on vacation, of being somewhere "else". It's pretty danged cool!
I live in Dallas, and try to get to each coast at least once a year. I'll always love DL as the first of the parks, and the DL park itself will always be one of the best Disney parks in the world. But for a lengthy vacation with all the frills, you simply can't beat a week at Disney World!

Thanks danyoung! Well said!
I'm gonna send her the link now...and everyone else feel free to write a quick comment or two... the more the merrier!:) Much thanks!

Kwahati 01-02-2008, 02:41 PM I'm no good at *quick* comments, but I'm with everything Dan said (he's like one of my own personal heroes! :p) I can't say enough about how truly magical it is to be completely immersed in Disney. Disneyland Park in Anaheim is cool, and it was first, but Walt saw very quickly how his dream went awry because of its own success. That's why he decided to create WDW: so he could get his dream exactly right! It's beautiful, it's wonderful, it's full of sound and color and...well...magic! I hope your friend is pulling your leg, CoralMommy, and doesn't really need convincing because I think simply seeing a map of the place and maybe the free promotional video available from the Disney Web Site should be enough to convince anybody. Once you've found the joy of a Disney World vacation, indulging in world class hotels, dining, shopping, golf, and entertainment that others imitate but can never duplicate...I think you'll never want to go back to a 'normal' vacation again. (Also, it is a good compromise place for groups to meet up. My roommates and I can never agree on any place to vacation because we all want to do different things. I want to be somewhere warm with good water attractions [water slides, etc.], my male roommate doesn't want to get too much sun because he burns easily so he wants to go somewhere with mostly indoor entertainment, and my female roommate wants to go somewhere we can get great food unlike what we have all the time at home! WDW fits the bill for all those requirements!) I hope you all decide to go so you understand why we have a discussion board where we constantly rave about an amusement park. I swear we're not crazy! It's just that WDW is really that great! :D
ColtsFan 01-03-2008, 05:58 AM Hi. I just wanted to say my husband was not a firm believer in WDW. He never took a trip as a kid. In fact his first trip was with me and our 22 month old and a 4 month old back in 1996.
He truly thought he would be bored out of his skull, but he was amazed at how much there was to do for people of every age. I think the most telling thing was when we were standing in the middle of Epcot with a screaming baby, in 110 degree weather, and a toddler running away so she could find Mickey, he looks at me and says "We need to plan a trip to come back again soon"
So, imho, go!!! You'll love it.

Great idea! I'm on it! (Don't know why I never thought of that!) Thanks Kwahati!
