View Full Version : Pirate and Princess Party
houseofmouse 12-30-2007, 06:10 PM So I bought tickets tonight but missed the early purchase deadline. :crying: Anyway I was wondering how fabulous and fun this event is? It sounds like a good time and the gal on the phone said her kids loved it. Any inside tips as to what to do when, when the fireworks are and is there a special parade?? Thanks!!:)
GusMan 12-31-2007, 10:15 AM While I have never been to the P&PP itself, its been talked about in the past. I pulled the following threads out of a quick search. Maybe they will give you an idea of what to expect. There are some links to pictures in the second thread as well.

houseofmouse 12-31-2007, 01:05 PM Thanks again Gusman! I am excited to go and it is a surprise for my DD so she won't know until that night we are staying for the P&PP!! :)
dawz1026 01-02-2008, 06:00 AM I just found out it will be going on in April when I am there as well! Very excited!:D
PirateMomma412 01-10-2008, 01:30 PM I just read your post regarding the Pirate and Princess party in April. Is that official news? My fam is going in April as well, and we would LOVE to attend! I hadn't seen that on the WDW website yet-but I've heard rumors!:D
runner110 01-11-2008, 01:29 PM We're going to WDW for a week on January 21, and gave the trip and Pirates and Princesses party tickets to our kids for Christmas. Beware that Disney won't send you ANYTHING about your party tickets, even an e-mail. They're only give you a confirmation number. I asked for at least an e-mail to show the kids as part of the present, and they told me to go a a third-party website and print something out.
We went to Disneyshopping.com, and they had kid's Jack Sparrow costumes on sale for $19.99, and a treasure chest with wheels and a handle (ie., luggage) for around $16. We put the costumes in the chest, and gave it to the kids as a present, and let them figure out that they were going to the party. The costumes are really nice, and so is the treasure chest. Well worth the money, at least when bought on clearance.

No, it's not official. From an invitation to a Pirate & Princess press event that I can't get to:
This special event takes place Jan. 21 through March 14 on 13 select nights.
So while I've heard a number of rumors (the rumored dates are in one of the recent Park Updates), it's not official at this time.
jimmy1 01-14-2008, 07:31 AM HI everyone, we went last year to the PP party. I thought my kids would be too young (they were 3 and 4 at the time). We are militant with bedtimes and I thought they'd be up too late.
I was wrong. they loved it and we had a fantastic time. We rode some of the rides 4 or 5 times in a row, no crowds at all. The theme was great, parade adn fireworks great too. The whole park took on a different look. This is highly reccomended. Just some info, that was valid at the time - you could enter the park at 5pm with the PP ticket, that might have changed but it got us a few more hrs and you could ride while the non-party crowds emptied!
janell 01-14-2008, 04:33 PM Does anyone know when they are going to release May's dates?
houseofmouse 01-15-2008, 12:16 PM Which rides are open during the event? :)
Pentsteeler 01-15-2008, 06:16 PM I would highly recomend the Pirate and Princess Party, We went in Feb of 07 and the family loved it. The special pirate fireworks are done twice nightly. So that night we watched wishes for the regular park closing, then watched the Special fireworks for the Pirate and Princess Party fireworks twice they were so good.
Most of the rides were open, with no lines, and you get an opporunity to spend time with Captain Jack Sparrow, He takes times to interact with your family and take pictures. He was great, all the mannerisms, and one liners that you would expect from Johnny Depp.
You wont regret the buying the tickets. Enjoy!!!!
runner110 02-02-2008, 10:03 AM We were at the P&PP last Saturday (1/26). Even with the rain, it was surprisingly crowded. A large number of adults without kids were there. I guess they buy tickets figuring it's a good way to beat the lines. Space Mountain continously had at least a 60 minute wait. At 9:00, Peter Pan's flight was a 70 minute wait. But we rode Thunder Mountain railroad and Pirates of the Carribean with no wait at all. The line to meet Jack Sparrow was crazy when we got there, but here's a good tip that worked for us. When the parade starts, watch it from near Pecos Bill's. As soon as the end of the parade pass you, go quickly to the Jack Sparrow line (it's across from the entrance to the Swiss Family Treehouse). There's more than one Jack - the one who looks amazingly like Johnny Depp is still in the parade, but there's an adequate Jack still posing for pictures. We skipped the hour line at 8:00, and by using the parade strategy we waited no more than 5 minutes.

I love this site for these kinds of tips. Thank you :) :)
hmsharpe 03-12-2008, 07:04 PM So, we went to disneyland in January and are going to WDW in May (well really, it is diguised as my husband's golf trip, but that is only two days ;)
I was looking online and of course was overwelmed with choices (makes Disneyland look small!)-so what i am wondering is what is the deal with the Pirate/Princess party-is it worth it? would you chose it or a character meal if budget wise you could do one? We did a princess meal in January, so would this be something different? Our kids will be 3 and 4 1/2 when we go. Both loved disneyland and my eldest was at WDW but as a baby! Any advice? thanks
hmsharpe 03-13-2008, 08:39 AM someone, anyone, please, is it worth it? should we do it or a character meal? I would love any input-am I posting in the wrong place?
Drince88 03-13-2008, 08:45 AM You're posting in the right place - but it's only been 13 hours.
To get the most out of the party, your kids have to be able to stay at LEAST through the first parade and fireworks. If they have a good nap, would they be able to do that (assume fireworks are at 9:30, which may not be right, but close enough for this question.) Ideally, you'd want to be able to stay later to watch the second parade (10:30 for our discussion here) so you could do 'Party Stuff' and ride attractions during the first parade.
PERSONALLY, I think I'd rather do a character meal or two vs the party in your situation, because although they do limit the number of tickets sold, sometimes the lines for the special things can get long. I haven't been to a P&P though, and seem to recall seeing something that they were having issues with adequate ticket sales, so it might not be as bad. Plus, you're wipng out a big afternoon of touring time for the 'good nap' and you're not going to be up and at 'em as early the next morning because of the late night.
BUT, if you/your kids are big parade fans or fireworks fans, it might be good for that. They do have other things at the parties aimed at the younger set, too - that might tip the scales for you.
hmsharpe 03-13-2008, 09:36 AM Thanks Cathy! Yes, I need patience, I think I use them all up with the kids. Good suggestions about the naps, the next day we are planning a pool at the hotel day so it might work, but still not sure. so many decisions so little time!

cheshirecatgirl 03-17-2008, 05:55 AM I would say it depends on what your kids like better. For me, the Pirate and Princess party is waaaaay better than a character meal, but I am not sure if that would be true for 3 and 4 year olds. If they really like pirates and princesses and are able to handle staying up late, then yes! Also, though it would depend on how much time you have. How many days will you be there, and do you want to devote the time and extra money for the party?
stan4d_steph 03-18-2008, 01:04 AM someone, anyone, please, is it worth it? should we do it or a character meal? I would love any input-am I posting in the wrong place?:confused:You can also do a search (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/search.php) to find out if the topic has been discussed previously.
I have merged your thread with a previous thread on the same subject. See above for more responses.
MrIncredible 05-21-2008, 05:04 PM Folks:
My DD (7) and I are taking a mother/daughter trip to WDW at the end of the month for four days. We have been to WDW three times before (and as recently as February, just before a three day cruise). I noticed that MK has a Pirate and Princess Party while we are there. I wasn't sure it was worth the extra money, but was wondering whether anyone here has gone before....All opinions would be welcome.
Thanks!
Theresa
kadiehl 05-21-2008, 05:12 PM I have seen things on the Travel Channel about this party and I would SOOO do it if you are going.
I wish we were timing it to do that party...I have always had a good time at the other ticketed parties and I would not hesitiate to do it at all.
We have been to the Halloween Party and we are going back to our second christmas party this year....so if I were you, I would do the Pirate and Princesses party...I know I would if I was going with my daughter or son even.
Edited to add that my daughter is going on 7 and that is why I would not hesitate one bit to take her to it...she is always saying she is going to grow up to be a Princess and Live at WDW
GusMan 05-21-2008, 07:20 PM While I have not been to the P&PP yet, from what others have said it is at least worth a try once. Similar to the MVMCP and the MNSSHP, there are a lot of special things going on that really add to the atmosphere.
hmsharpe 05-22-2008, 10:27 AM we just went to the party last week and we really loved it. our kids are preschoolers, so it was a late night for them, so don't plan anything for the next AM. we started with dinner at liberty tree and then the party. the lines were great, the fireworks were cool, as was the parade with 'real' horses. we actually watched the fireworks from on the astro orbitors-awesome view if you can time it right. the kids loved the treasure, got quite into the treasure search. plus, they had a promotion with special photopasses that all your pics from the night on photopass were 40% off! cinderella's coach and pumpkins were out for a photo op as well. anyway, i would say if the budget allows, it is a fun night, and much more relaxed crowds.
janell 05-30-2008, 12:04 PM Just got back from our trip. The party was great. The lines were short. When on Big Thunder, we didn't even have to get off the ride to go again. It was great.
