Does anyone have a list, or know of one, that has all the rides/ attractions/ shows that can be recorded via camcorder (allowed by Disney)? I just wanted to try to plan a video based on our trip in a few months and knowing the rides and stuff that allow for recording sure would help. Thanks!

It might be easier to find the list of things you cannot record. I know visionsfantastic.com has a lot of information on attractions that they have recorded. They might be mostly DLR though.

Many of the shows are not recordable and anything 3D for sure is not recordable. Recording in some of the dark rides becomes difficult because of the low light. I have recorded TTA (bad in places), Splash, Pirates (not so good), fireworks and Country Bears.

Some that I don't think you can do or are difficult to do:
Space (light issues)
Mickey's Philharmagic (3D, asked not to)
Country Bears (Some times your told not to)
Snow White (light issues?)
Little Mermaid (no external lighting-light issues)
Muppets (3D, asked not to)
Star Tours (asked not to)
Tree of Life (3D, asked not to)
Kilimanjaro Safari (bumpy but you can do it)
Dinosaur (light issues)
Tower of Terror (asked not to)
Soarin (asked not to)
Rockin Roller Coaster (light issues)

Some people on visionsfantastic have used camcorders with infrared lights. They pick up the dark rides better than a regular camcorder.

Hope this helps

generally speaking, attractions that feature film explicitly prohibit audio/video taping. the finding nemo musical also prohibits i believe.

still photography is usually allowed in these cases, however, in the case of dark rides, flash photography is prohibited. as far as videotaping goes, so is the use of external lighting.

in either case, but especially with videotaping, one should be mindful of the LCD display.

One note on this... if your camera has the option to turn off its IR lamp, it would be a good idea to do so. I recall it being said that some rides use IR for certain controls and/or for its CCTV to monitor the ride itself. The IR light on camcorders can cause interference.

Interesting, I do not recall that information.

I would also add that you should also tell the CMs that you have an IR camera since they will just think its a regular camera with an external light. They will tell you over the loud speakers to turn off the light even though the other guests cannot see the light.

You are right.... to them, it does show up as just a light. (And a bright one at that.)

As an example...test out your camera in a dark room and look into a mirror. If you a glare coming from your camera, then you have an IR light. Once you turn it off you can repeat the test to make sure you did it right. It also picks up the IR light from TV remotes and the like. (Its kinda funny to see.)

In many cases, those cameras that use IR pickups do just fine without the extra IR lighting. Sure, it is a little darker, but I think it adds to the look and feel of the finished product.

I have heard a great audio recording of the Soarin ride through. It lasts like 12 minutes and is so relaxing to listen to. :)

I have seen some videos on You Tube of Soarin', so someone's doing it!

I don't see the appeal of watching an IMAX-type movie on a small screen.
