I'm going to disneyland on August 26th through September the 1st and want very much to have a mouseplanet buttton to ware during my stay so if i meet a fellow mousepader we can say hi and stuff. My question is can I make one for myself? I respect and understand that mouseplanet has trademark on the name and i dont wish to infringe. I just want to go to the park and have fun and maybee meet some people frome the pad. if the answer is no i understand and totaly respect it. If the answer is yes i promise the button will be tastfull and low key thanks!

Private Message Not Afraid and ask her. She's the official controller of everything, including buttons, phone numbers, and magic wands. As for making your own, I'm not sure.

New title??????? I was trying to rid myslef of the first one;) . (Thanks Nick) . I have Mouse Pad Buttons. I carry them with me when I'm at DL. If you come to a meet, I will give you one. Any chance of that? Sundays are good.

tredla -- We're tickled that you like MousePlanet so much that you want to make a button with our logo on it. As you have correctly surmised however, our logo is a valuable brand for us, and we do not give permission to use the trademark in an unofficial manner.

You are in great luck, however. MousePad buttons are available free of charge from our intrepid button-holder, Not Afraid. As she has posted, please meet her for your own MousePad button. This gives you a reason to visit MousePadders in person.

One more thing -- you mentioned MousePlanet buttons; those are currently on hiatus. Not Afraid maintains the MousePad buttons, which are as official as the MousePlanet ones. :D

Try to arrange a meet on a day you are there.

And, a meet doesn't have to be a big group gathering.

There is always someone at the park. Even plan on just meeting for fireworks or Fantasmic. Work on it!!!

Have fun!

Just a reminder: Requests for MousePad meets are conducted in the Lounge forum.

I understand that mouseplanet has a trade mark but as i see it free advertisement is a great idea. companys give free shirts, cups and bumperstickers all the time to get there name out there, and you have someone who wants to express there love for this great site and you have made it incovenoit for her/him

my two cents is that if all she wants to do is make a button you should allow her with the guide lines of just the web site address on a button, or maybe a heart with mouseplanet

As i said this is just an thought and you have stated very clearly to not allow this person to make her own button, any this should be respected

disneyscott,

Any company or corporation with a trademark and/or copyright must diligently protect it's trademarks and copyrights. It is quite possible that tredla would design a tasteful, attractive button. But if we allow this person to make such a button and manipulate our logo, then we set a precident.

Once we allow other people to use our trademarked and copyrighten images, we lose control of how they are presented to the public. An unattractive or distasteful representation of our logo would not be something we want representing our company to the public. Allowing one person to use our logo would set the precident.

MousePlanet is not unique in protecting it's trademarked and copywritten images. Most companies and corporations have similar policies. In fact, large corporations have personnel dedicated to the vigorous defense of such properties.

We try to provide logo'd products to meet the needs of our readership who want them. In the past, we've offered baseball caps and clothing. We are still trying to find the right balance of supply and demand.

In the meantime, I suggest that tredla contact NotAfraid by PM and see what they can do about getting an MPad button to tredla.

As Lani said, it is a privilege that our readers appreciate the work we do here at MousePlanet so much and would proudly display our logo in public. Your support mean a lot to all of us on the staff. Thank you.

ok first off i'm a guy the TR in tredla stands for Troy! secondly it was not my intention to cause problems for mouseplanet mouse pad or its afelleates and I appoligise if my request has put mouseplanet in position to defened itself. I understand trademarks and respect them otherwise I wouldnt have asked for permission. I thank people for there suggestion that i should try to arange a meet durring my stay i will put my best effort in to making this happen. I would like to thank all who have expressed an intrest in my request and also remind people that if someone had permission to use your name and put whatever they wanted to about you on a button you might not want a person who dosent like you to have that ability. Just as you have a right to protect your good name so also should mouseplannet. Thanks everybody and have a great day!
