Just about everytime we visit the park , we are there from open to close.

For our upcoming trip, however, we will be arriving in the evening. I was thinking we might head over around 10pm and just hang out for a short time before closing.

My question is this: when guests start to leave, do they allow new parking in the closer lots? (Timon, for example) as spots open up? Or is it going to be a long journey to the 13th floor of the Mickey and Friends structure?

Just wondering. If it is going to take us 45 minutes to park, take the tram to the park, wait in line, etc... we might just pass on the late night visit and wait till the morning.

Thanks for any help!

I've seen them open floors up. The last time we went, we left about 7:45 and people were coming in to park on our floor.

Another option is parking at downtown disney. You get two or three hours free and if you an get a validation you can end up with a total of five hours. Yes, you have to walk to the park, but based on where you park in the lot, it might be easier to cross to M&F via the crosswalk and take the tram that way.

I've been to disneyland after 10pm, and parked in the timon lot. no problems at all!

I prefer the Timon lot and we always park there if we can.

Last time we left late (10-ish), we noticed not only was it open, but they weren't charging anyone who was coming in to park at that time.

Don't know if it was a one time thing or what but we stopped the car to confirm we weren't seeing things.

We weren't.

This was just after Thanksgiving--a slow day.

If you are going that late, you might want to try the Downtown Disney parking lot. That late, you shouldn't have to pay, and even if you do, just get a validation somewhere. You should be good for a couple hours.
