I don't want to give away our big Dream because it will be on my trip report but it was made up by a CM. She had to make sure she could get another member to cover her area while she Dreamed us. They are allowed to do "random" Dreams.
Okay - so when are you going to post your trip report?? Can't wait to read it! (Does it have anything to do with your new avatar?)

I have a dream of getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Small to you, a big deal to me! Elizabeth
Right there with you! Can totally relate!

If it was Wednesday, the 5th, maybe the answer he was looking for was "Walt's Birthday"! Just a guess...

Its more like "The left person on cart 107 exiting HM at 10:30am."
Yes, that is very close to what the dream squad gets. They essentially get a print out that tells them WHAT to give, HOW MANY to give, WHERE to give and WHEN to give. To the point that they have a PICTURE given to them of the exact spot where they are supposed to stand and an ATOMIC wrist watch that is synched so that the time is exactly correct. Anything of significance (ie, ears, FPs, lanyards, Penthouse, ect.) must ALWAYS be given out by TWO Dream CMs. Reason behind that is to prevent subterfuge. And say, if the Penthouse is to go to the 3rd guest getting out of the first boat, 2nd row at PotC at 10:58 am and there are only 2 guests in that row, the prize is NOT awarded as the criteria were not met. They may NOT grab another guest as that destroys the randomness of the Dream as the Dream Squad member chose the winner. They are to return to Dream HQ and have the computer spit out another assignment for them. That prize may not be given out for a while afterwards.
Heck, each day there are prizes that are awarded through the AMOE (Alternate Means Of Entry). And some days that has been the Penthouse. Dunno what they do then, but they do give it away that way.
And I learned all that from the time myself and a bunch of friends got FPs. Well, one of the group did as we were all split up. So they told us to go to Guest Services and one of the Dream Squad showed up to help us. We mentioned that, heck, not all of our friends were even present then, so she walked back with us to meet the last one and told us this whole story. Said that it was done by the same company who does the McDonalds Monopoly game.
Oh, what one does learn when they ask. And I don't really know how much of that she was supposed to tell us, but she told us. Neat little "Behind the Magic" dream extension.
And to the OP. Just for future knowledge, Honorary Citizen buttons are given out to those who ask at City Hall, Guest Services, ect. It was very nice of you to try and return it. And, really, they should have given you AT LEAST the Pixie Dust pins as a thank you. That is the idea behind those pins. The Dream Squad member there was just a by chance thing. HTH...

What are Pixie Dust pins? They sound magical and exciting! :D2 Tink pins that are given out to people they see who are doing good deeds. You are supposed to keep one, and pass the other on to someone YOU see doing good.

My family was lucky enough to be one of those family's that won the night at Mickey's Penthouse, the ride in the fire truck as Grand Marshal , Dinner for the family at Blue bayou and I will tell you it was far from being a "lame" prize. We had the time of our lives that day and it was definitely a dream for us. Yes us adults enjoyed it just as much as our 2 Ds's did... And yes we did know it was special.... It was a Complete Dream !!!!
That is so cool! Congratulations to you and your family.
We are going to be at Disneyland soon and I just hope we win something, but if we don't I am not going to be upset, I am going to have a wonderful time at the Happiest Place on Earth at Christmas time - celebrating with my family!
Who could ask for more than that?

What a great idea! Kind of like "pay it forward." I'd love to have the opportunity to pass on the Pixie Dust.

I got one of those once! :D
Is it bad that I gave the second to my older sister who adores Tink? That counts as.... another good deed, does that make up for it? ;)

Yesterday we went to see Turtle Talk. Afterwards, Mom wanted to get a picture of me and the kids in front of the screen. As we were standing there, Crush came out (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e180/hotmamatigger/IMG_0244.jpg)! He spent some time talking to the kids... "slap me some fin little man" and "noggin" (which my DD#1 had perfected a long time ago!). They were talking about it all day after that!

As we were leaving the booth, a guy with a Dream Team outfit came up, told me I should wear the pin with pride and asked me what we were celebrating. Since we weren't celebrating anything in particular, other than a day off of work for my hubby and the CM said that didn't count, we said, nothing. He asked if we had been to DCA before, we said many times. Then he asked if we were SURE we weren't celebrating anything?! Not wanting to lie, I said no, sorry, and he said, OK, have a nice day in the park, and was on his way.
It obviously made me curious, so I thought I'd come here to ask, does anyone know what "Dream" happens, if you stop at the DCA Info Booth, around 3 pm on a Wednesday? In all this time, we haven't won even one dream yet, not even a fastpass in the parks or ears from mailing in all those postcards, so it would've been nice to have gotten something. I sure hope it wasn't something big!
You didn't miss out on anything. The Dream Squad cast member was just looking for someone to talk to. Prizes are not awarded based on any celebration or anything like that. They are awarded at random locations in the park and at random times, as has been stated here before and is also outlined in the official rules (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/index?name=YOMDGiveAwayRules08Page&bhcp=1).
