In the past one of the live stage shows that they performed onboard the Disney ships was called Ghost Ship. To me, it was not one of the more inspired things that the company has done. It was a very hokey ghost pirate musical. Keep in mind, I am facinated by both pirates and ghosts, so maybe I was a little too critical. Perhaps someone else who saw it might want to comment on it.

Anyway, they have replaced Ghost Ship with a new musical called Morty the Magnificent. The new show is really cute. It's about a bad magician who is granted the ability to do real magic. The magic tricks themselves are all right, but the story of the show is a lot of fun.

When I took the 7-day cruise back in late 2000, they did a stage show called "Cest Magique". It was a musical magic show, but with a very European, sort of avante garde feel to it.

The plotline you describe for "Morty the Magnificent" actually sounds very similar, although "Cest Magique" did not include any appearances by Mickey or any other familiar Disney characters. I wonder if they reworked the show to make it more mainstream and kid-friendly.

By the way, when we went on our cruise they were still doing "Voyage of the Ghost Ship" on the 3 and 4 night cruises on the Wonder, but they had just replaced it with an all Disney trivia "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" take-off on the Magic. I had heard enough about "Ghost Ship" to be curious about seeing it and asked at the Guest Services desk whether it would be playing. They said it had been replaced on the Magic just a couple weeks earlier.

I assume they are still doing "Disney Dreams", right?

I am glad to hear they replaced "Ghost Ship"...of the three plays...it was by far the least entertaining.

We also saw on the Disney Magic in 1999, Hercules...the MUSE~ical. Gosh...it was funny...lots of puns only adults would get. Great for laughs.

Disney Dreams was by far the BEST. I thought it would be "hokey"...but found myself getting teary at every scene...especially the ending....

Yes, they are still doing Disney Dreams.

I think you are right about Morty the Maginificent being a rework of Cest Magique. They even had some props that said Cest Magique on it.
