Hi!

My fiance and I are thinking of doing our true honeymoon at disney during the holiday season in 2008. We were engaged NYE of 2006 and are getting married in June (but i'd rather wait for the holiday season than go right away).

I'm a disney frequent flier but have ALWAYS stayed in Ft. Wilderness cabins. . . and my fiance and i stayed there last time when we were engaged and he loved it. But i'm not sure we can afford Ft. Wilderness on our own, or if we dont want to try somewhere else if we can (like the lodge or AK?) So i would love to know what your suggestions are. :)

If it helps. I love the privacy of the cabins and the fact that we have a mini kitchen with a fridge and everything and a couple of separate rooms where fiance loves hotels with lobbys etc.

Suggestions? Thanks! :)

How about DVC as a major gift? Then you will be able to stay on points and will get both the privacy and kitchen but still have the hotel lobby and services.

I don't know what your price range is, but my husband and I just had our wedding in Disney. We stayed at The Boardwalk (as our reception was at Atlantic Dance Hall) - I can say that handsdown, that was honestly one of the best decisions we made, a bit pricey, because of that we stayed a couple days at All Star Sports then moved over, my husband then said the best words ever "We will never stay VALUE again" (our time was horrendous there) While we can't nearly afford to stay at Boardwalk every time - it was amazing! We are going back in May, staying either at Coronado or Saratoga. We have stayed at Carribean Beach and POR, as well as OKW. We are a fan of the moderates as well as some DVC as well. But hands down, Boardwalk was our favorite.

Just wanted to echo some of what Cheshire Figment had to say about the DVC properties. You don't have to be a DVC member to stay there and since you seem unsure as to what you can afford, I assume that a DVC membership is currently not in the cards. But as Cheshire Figment mentioned, you would get the kitchenette and the hotel lobby. The hotel lobby at the AK lodge is pretty impressive and they've just added DVC units there, so that might be something you would like. Since you're getting married in June and not travelling until December, maybe you can save any wedding gift cash and put it towards the deluxe accomodations. :D

BTW -- my wife and I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn back in December of 1999 for our honeymoon. We just returned for the first time this past April and stayed at a DVC unit at the Beach Club. We really enjoyed both of those trips and liked being so close to Epcot and MGM.

Anyway, congrats and I hope you have a great trip next December!
