Hello, I'm new here. I'm taking my 2 daughters to DW from California in late March. We're holding reservations for Polynesian but I'd really like to stay at the Beach Club.

Any tricks for finding an opening between now and then? Thanks so much!

Welcome to MP!

If you are looking to see if this can happen, the best thing to do is to call Disney (or whatever travel agent you used to book your trip) and find out if there is availability for similar accommodations at the BC during the time of your trip. From there, you can find out what the difference is cost wise and go from there. You are still within the window where you should be able to make changes without any fees, so this is as good of a time as any to do so.

Of course, if you are saying that you already tried to get your ressie changed and did not have success, that is a different story. If that is the case, let us know what you have tried and maybe we can brainstorm a bit to see if you have other options.

Are there any particular reasons why you would want to move away from the Poly?

Thanks for the welcome.

No huge reason to want to try the Beach Club altho interestingly it's 4 star with AAA where Polynesian is 3 star.

I thought the swimming beach area would be great for my 8 an 6 year olds.

I've stayed at the Contemporary and loved the access of the monorail so thought the Polynesian would be a good option.

I've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and enjoyed that. Tried Port Orleans and didn't like only having buses as transportation options.

With the Beach Club I like that there are water launches to Epcot, (where we can grab the monorail, too) and MGM. I think traveling throughout the World is as fun as being in it. ;)

Those are some of my musings. And I've had the agent try to snag reservations for Beach Club ( no success yet) and if I remember correctly people often book a resort and change or cancel or let the hold expire and was hoping that if I called say, at 10AM EST that would be the magical time when things opened up for the day.

Thanks for elaborating...
On the good news side of the house, at least you have a reservation so at least you do not have to worry about that.

However, if you call at or around 45 days before your trip, you know - when the final payment is due - you might be able to grab someones cancellation. However - make sure you always keep your reservation current and paid for until after you have a new ressie in hand.

Also, it sounds like you had a TA do your booking, correct? (ie: not through Disney directly?) If that is the case, you will most likely have to have that agent call and make the change. You cannot call Disney directly if your reservation was not made through them.

Two things about your transportation thoughts. First, you can actually walk from the Beach Club to Epcot. (You can walk to the Studios, too, but it's a bit of a trek.) If I'm taking the boat from the Studios to Epcot, I'll usually get off at the Beach/Yacht club dock and walk from there, and always beat the boat, since it has another stop to make first (at Boardwalk).

Second, you go to the 'back' entrance of Epcot, the International Gateway, which is between the U.K. and France. So if you're going to the MK - it would be boat (or walk) to the International Gateway. Walk from U.K. to the front entrance of Epcot, grab the monorail to the TTC, and transfer at the TTC to the MK monorail (or Ferry). Or, take the bus from Beach directly to the MK.
