Okay, I am a complete newbie to the wonderful world of disney and all of their intricate workings, and I need some answers about AP. Does everyone in your party have to be AP holders to get any and all discounts with the AP? And I am assuming that all rooms booked under one reservation would qualify for the discount, right? And on another thread I read that you need tp pounce on the discounts when they first come out. Is this due to room availability? Are not all the rooms eligible for the discount if they have an AP holder using it? And what is the quickest way to be made aware of the discount codes? TIA for your patience and responses!

mousesavers.com for discounts. and yes, all discounts are limited at each resort.
only the person booking the room needs an AP. reportedly they changed it earlier this year so that there must be at least one AP holder in each room.

Nope - just one adult per room. If you're travelling with kids and book 2 rooms, you and your wife (or adult-aged kid) will have to have a pass each.
And I am assuming that all rooms booked under one reservation would qualify for the discount, right? And on another thread I read that you need tp pounce on the discounts when they first come out. Sadly, no. Disney only releases a limited number of rooms for this discount, and it's not always available at all resorts. The best thing to do is to subscribe to the newsletter from mousesavers.com. They keep up on when the discounts are released. Call as soon as you hear about the discounts, and if you don't get what you want keep calling. Sometimes Disney will release more rooms for the discount as the date approaches and they're not sold out at the rack rate.
There is another thing to consider here - the fact that Disney usually releases AP discount information 1 to 3 months out. But because of dining reservations starting at 180 days out, many people book their rooms at full rate then, and then change to the discounted rate when it becomes available. This is really easy to do with Disney - the phone agents will be more than happy to transfer any deposit paid to your new reservation.
If you're interested in getting an AP, you should also check out the Disney Dining Experience (DDE), not to be confused with the Disney Dining Plan (DDP). The DDE is a car that AP holders can purchase for $65. Then for the next year you can get 20% off of all food and beverages at table service restaurants and some quick service locations, INCLUDING ALCOHOL! This card will pay for itself after just a couple of big meals (or big benders at the Rose & Crown Pub!!!).
