View Full Version : AAA Booking (worth it?) dawz1026 11-08-2007, 09:39 AM Are the discounts that good? Can anyone give me an idea of the discount rates? GusMan 11-08-2007, 09:52 AM Some say that the AAA discount is pretty good and can easily save you more than the membership fees. However, if you do some searching around these parts, you will see varying feedback regarding going through AAA for the actual booking. Some love their AAA TA while others have had real crappy experiences. After reading what I have read, I would just go to Disney (or any other TA) directly and ask them about their AAA rates and adjust accordingly. Wendy Bird 11-08-2007, 10:06 AM I was first going to go through AAA but found if I went though Disneyworld.com it is slightly cheaper. (on site, free dining) And because most of the perks involved children (which our group was 20 somethings) I could not justify the extra $100. I also had 45 days before my trip to modify who was going or cancel without a penalty. I'm not sure what AAA policies are. call both and price it out, I'm sure if you are going at a time with no promotions gonig on that AAA might be better. dawz1026 11-08-2007, 10:35 AM hhmm yeah I called them to see and the diffrence of saving was 175.00..Im too scared at this point to do anymore changes.I will sit and wait for some codes;) clab 11-09-2007, 04:36 AM Hi all, I just got done booking our WDW trip for next year. I have AA so I called the Disney travel line and first tried to work through them. We are going October 2008 so it is far out. The Disney travel person quoted me a 8% discount on room only prices at POFQ. I then called my local AAA TA and she gave me a 15% discount for the same rooms. We are going as a Grand Gathering so I needed to book 5 rooms. I saved $835.00 by booking with the AAA TA. This experience tells me that Disney travel does not always honor the AAA discounts even though they are available. Happy travels all! tjrj 11-09-2007, 07:52 AM I had one of the less-than stellar experiences that GusMan was talking about. But if you are booking a package(in particular the dining package) and want a AAA discount, then AAA is the only way to do it. Disney itself can give you the AAA discount on room only. If you'll use the benefits in the AAA package-especially the parking pass then again AAA package is the only way to get that. Disney packages themselves, seem to most of the other benefits that the AAA package has. And the Disney Visa shopping pass seems to be relatively the same as the AAA shopping discount. Would I book AAA again? Not sure. It's hard to argue with a discount-but the lack of service and especially the hassle of not being able to check on the reservation myself(which the agent completely messed up but I didn't know that until we attempted to check in on property), left a really, really bad taste. I've heard rumors that there ARE Disney trained AAA TA's but not sure if they will book for out-of-state customers. Will definitely try to get recommendations next time before simply booking with my local office. I hear the CSAA office in San Mateo, CA is especially good. JTM 11-09-2007, 11:15 AM I booked my January 2008 trip through AAA before the new code for the ticket upgrade came out. Does any one know if I can apply that to my trip or would I lose the AAA discount? tjrj 11-10-2007, 12:58 PM I booked my January 2008 trip through AAA before the new code for the ticket upgrade came out. Does any one know if I can apply that to my trip or would I lose the AAA discount? In my experience, that would be considered "stacking" discounts, and that is not allowed. But the only way to know for sure is to contact your agent and ask him/her to apply the discount. And Andrew-that information has made me very happy. Will definitely file it away for next time. |
