Why did Epcot used to be capitalized [EPCOT] and changed to [Epcot] like a normal word? I know that it stands for experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, but why different capitalization?

At some point (during the late 80s or early 90s, I believe), Disney decided to drop the acronym.. since it was obviously not Experimental, a Prototype, or a Community. At that time, the official name of the park changed from "EPCOT Center" to simply "Epcot".
Interestingly, you'll find many long-time Epcot cast members still refer to the park as "EPCOT Center". I've especially noted this with Monorail hosts and hostesses.

It was changed because EPCOT Center was originally going to be a theme park followed by a city called EPCOT. In the 1990s, the Walt Disney Company thought that most of the public had forgotten their earlier promises of the city and changed the name to plain Epcot. It's kind of sad to think that Walt's final dream will never be realized.

Too bad they can't go back and revert to Walt's original goal of the community of tomorrow. It would certainly be better than the current Future World with Innoventions, The Living Seas, etc.
