My Friends and I will be visiting the Disneyland Resort for the first time soon, and we are looking into taking a bus tour of L.A. and Hollwood. Can anyone recommend a tour company?

I have done several tours with Grayline, which are convenient to take from Anaheim, however, if there are several of you and you don't mind driving, I recommend that you rent a car and go on your own tour. If you do some research before hand to know where you want to go and how to get there, you will get to see a lot more. I am not from a big city and I managed to drive around by myself on my second visit. I ended up going to Rodeo Drive, Santa Monica Pier and Hollywood Blvd (Walk of Fame).
Good luck.

Annually, for my birthday, we make the "trek" to Southern California.
Last year, we did the L.A. City Tour with Greyline which included the last stop being Universal Studios. It was a very nicely narrated tour, with stops at the walk, the chinese theatre and some other choice spots. It was a nicely paced tour, too.
The last stop was USH, where we had about 6 hours before they took us home. This was a Sunday, mind you -- and the parks were dead. 5-10 max on any line.
I'm glad we took that tour and we may take an abbreviated version this year (Nov 25-Dec3) when we come back. One thing that really saved my sanity was the bus driver -- she knew where she was going and how to get there. The trip back from USH was 1.5 hours because of the L.A. traffic.
With the AAA discount, it was also affordable and included the USH admission. I think it turned out to be $80/per person. The tour was 4 hours and the USH experience was 6.
