Well, we decided to stay at the DLH for my daughter's 11th Birthday. We splurged and took advantage of the AP rate and stayed at the concierge level. When I made the reservations, I told them it was my daughter's birthday and they asked who her favorite character was (more on that later in our story...) We checked in early in order to get our parking permit. Upon concierge level check-in we were told that the hotel just had a 400 room convention cancel. They gave us a schedule of events and sent us on our way. We knew our room wouldn't be ready for a while, so we swung by the concierge lounge, got some drinks and went into DL. Around 1:30 pm, we decided to head back to the hotel and see if our room was ready and to take advantage of the concierge drinks again. We were told that our room was not ready. We thought no big deal, we'll head into CA and have some fun there. I finally got smart and called the DLH around 3:00 pm and asked if our room was done. I was told that the our room would be ready in 15 minutes. Being pessimists, we waited around for about 30 minutes and then returned to the DLH concierge lounge to wait for our room. We finally got into our room at 4:45 pm. Now, my husband who travels for a living has never had to wait past 3 pm for a room, so he's getting a little upset. We had hoped to take advantage of the warm weather and use the pool on the 28th, but that was not to be. When we finally got to our room, there was no mention of my daughter's B-day or any of the usual birthday perks (picture of character, birthday button, etc). We had to ask for a birthday button the next day. In times past DLH has made a big deal about my daughter's birthday. This time it just seemed like no one cared. We called today (11/4) to find out if we could move the reservation for our 20th wedding anniversary stay at the beginning of December to the GCH hoping our luck would be better there. To make a long story short, we weren't able to get into the GCH and we canceled our reservation . It's just too much money to spend to get mediocre service.
