Travel dates: October 27th-30th
Travel method: Drive from Phoenix
Resort: Grand Californian
Ages Represented in Group: (here we go) 3 months, 3, 4, 6, 22, 22, 23, 24, 30, 32, 33, 50, and 52
DL Experience Represented in Group: We travel with the whole gang to Disneyland every October, this is the 2nd year in a row with everyone, and the 3rd year with some of the family. Everyone had a blast.
Comments: Due to my husband and I just having a baby, the 3 month year old, we didn't get to go on as many things as I had hoped, but I'm definitely not disappointed with our trip. With so many people in our group a lot of time was spent re-grouping and getting to the next attraction.
Cast of characters: My husband, baby, me, 3 sister-in-laws, 2 brother-in-laws, 3 nephews, and mother and father-in-law.
Saturday October 27th: Left Phoenix about 8:45 AM, had 2 stops, and arrived in Disneyland around 2:45 PM. Checked-in at hotel, and went to DCA. We went to Bugs Life for the little ones. The baby went on Heimlich's Chew Chew Train. She was unhappy because I had to move her to my lap so she could be under the seatbelt. Maybe they thought she would fly out going 3 mph. The big kids did Tower of Terror and the 2 littlest boys, the baby, my husband, his mom, and me did Monsters Inc. You never realize how loud it is until you have a baby. She cried and I felt awful, I don't recommend that one for the babies. After that we headed to Disneyland. Tomorrowland was first with Buzz, and Star Tours for the boys, and Space Mountain for the remaining adults. We ate dinner at Storyteller Cafe in our hotel, with just 6 of us and the baby. Returned to Disneyland to ride Thunder Mountain at night, and watched fireworks then went to bed for an early wake-up at 6.
Sunday October 28th: My husband, the baby, and I had PS at Storytellers Cafe for the Chip and Dale breakfast, we were the second ones in the restaurant. Food was amazing, I wish we had a better server she was just thrilled to be at work. But the baby loved Chip and Dale, she thought they were giant stuffed animals and just sat in her stroller smiling. The characters were awesome with the baby, Dale even gave her her bottle to eat. To the park for opening at 8. Did Indiana Jones, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Mr. Toad's, some did Pirates, and the 4 year old had to ride Star Tours about 6 times throughout our trip. We ended up at DCA with a break in the middle due to it being to hot for the baby. Did Tower of Terror, and CA Screamin'. We ate lunch at Whitewater Snacks at the hotel, had a chicken sandwich, the best ever so juicy and fresh. We left the baby with her grandparents and went to Napa Rose for dinner. It was wonderful as always.
Monday October 29th: Quick breakfast at Whitewater and off for early entry at 8 into Disneyland. Went straight to Nemo, but with a 90 minute line then a 30 minute delay on the ride we opted for Fantasyland instead. Went to Peter Pan with about a 20 minute wait, then walked straight onto Snow White and Pinocchio. The baby loved all 3, with all of the lights and music. Rides today: Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain with fast pass, Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones, and Nemo with a 45 minute wait that only took 30 min.! Lunch at Horseshoe, missed the show this year :(, but chicken strips with apples :). Dinner with everyone at Tortilla Joe's, it was awful. I'd eaten there before and it was bad, this time seemed worst. Was the only place we could get into with 13 people same day.
Tuesday October 30th: 4 of the 13 left today. was a little easier to navigate since 2 of the 3 young boys went home. We ate breakfast at Storytellers Cafe, again. Relaxed day today, some did Nemo with our early entry, did Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain, Pirates, CA Soarin' with Fast Pass. Had some pineapple ice cream by the Tiki Room. Ate lunch at the Warf in DCA, clam chowder with a bread bowl, yum. Later shared a peanut butter cookie from Confections in DCA. Hit the road at 4:00, got stuck in LA traffic, 1 stop and home at 10:30.
I think that we had a pretty successful trip due to having 13 people in our party including an infant. The only things I wish I got to do was, eat at Plaza Inn, and go on Winnie the Pooh with the baby.
Planning next trip in December for the holidays. My husband has never seen Disneyland at Christmas time.
