I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, so mods feel free to move as needed.
As most of you on here probably know by now, we're in the midst of planning our WDW honeymoon. The questions are coming fast and furious!!!

Since we will be there for such an extended amount of time (around three weeks) we are almost 100% certain that we will be purchasing APs. We plan on going to the waterparks, but probably only once per park so it seems as if the PAP is unnecessary. Does it make sense to purchase a regular AP and then purchase individual day admissions to the waterparks? If we do this, will our APs get us a discount on the admission?

Also, when is the right time to get the passes? Should we make the purchase over the internet and redeem the voucher once we get down there, or should we wait until we're actually at the park to make the purchase?

Sorry if either of these are silly questions, but we really are quite clueless when it comes to WDW! :) Any help would be great.

The regular AP gives you a $4 discount off regular admission price for Guests ages 10 and older and $3 discount for Guests ages 3-9 at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Parks.

I think it's good to purchase the AP over the Internet (asking for the voucher). With the voucher, you can the access the AP web site and even book discounted hotel rooms. When you get to WDW, you exchange your voucher for your AP and the clock starts ticking (expires one year from then).

I would get vouchers beforehand for 2 reasons: You can view the AP holders website with just a voucher number, so there might be additional discounts that would help you. And 2 - you can get a Disney Dining Experience card with your AP voucher - and you need to order that ahead of time. The DDE card gets you 20% off food AND DRINK (yes, even adult drinks) at most table service locations. It will likely pay for itself quite easily with a 3 week trip.

I don't know if APs get discounts on the water parks - but I do recall that the DDE Pleasure Island discount is a pretty good one.

Refresh my feeble memory. Do you redeem the AP voucher at the park ticket counters, or somewhere inside the parks?

Park ticket booths or DTD Guest Services.

If you are only planning to do each water park once, then it does make sense to purchase the regular annual pass instead of the premium one. We did the premium one the first time we did annual passes. We found that even though we paid for the extras of the premium, we never used them. Since then, we've done the regular passes and figure if we do want a water park or Pleasure Island, we'll buy the separate admission since it would be cheaper to do that. And since we went to the regular passes, we've never gone to a water park or Pleasure Island!

I always recommend that people get their tickets before they leave their house. Sometimes the ticket lines can get rather long. The only big problem with prebuying the tickets is that you cannot lose them before you go and you cannot forget them back at home. So be careful with them.

It's very easy to exchange the vouchers for the real pass. Both of you will need to go to a Guest Relations booth at any of the parks or Downtown Disney. Have your photo ID with you. Hand over the voucher and the ID and you'll be set. Takes about five minutes.
