Ok, so like someone else mentioned on here I also tend to obsess over details.

I am taking my Mom on a 77th birthday trip in November and am trying to make it "special" since even though we live here in Southern California she hasn't been to DLR in about 20 years. Because of disabilities, I am trying to plan some things she might like to do because I think it will still be difficult for her to get on some of the rides.

So, for our first day I have just planned being at Calif. Adventure and dinner at the Vineyard Room. I think that will work out well, what with hotel check-in and everything.

However, I'm concerned that I've "overbooked" the next day:

I started with a 7:30 Character Breakfast, then the Holiday Time Tour at 1 p.m. followed by dinner at Blue Bayou at 5:30 and Fantasmic preferred seating at 9 p.m. I'm just concerned that I have too much "planned" on the second day.

Since we live here in Orange County, I'm thinking of re-scheduling the character breakfast for our first day--that way we could go straight to the hotel (the GCH) have breakfast and then go to Calif. Adventure for the rest of the day.

I'm also thinking of canceling the Blue Bayou since I've heard mixed opinions on the value of that venue.

Thoughts?

I think you have over booked your second day. My mom is 67 and I know she couldn't handle that kind of schedule. Personally I would do the character breakfast on the 1st day. The tour and dinner sounds good and maybe you should offer her the chance to rest in the hotel room for a while before Fantasmic.

2 table service meals in a day is a lot. (in food and price)
We are able to have a Character Breakfast and eat light snacks the rest of the day and split a counter service meal for dinner.

You can alway keep your reservation too and on the day decide if you would like to still go.

Im not sure but i think you get a dessert with the fantasmic package. that might weigh in when you have dinner too.

Yes, I think you are both right. I am going to move the character breakfast--and cancel the dinner on the second day too so that we can play that by ear.

Now, the only question I have to determine is do I do the character the first day or right before we go home as a send-off? Hmmmmmmm

I like doing the character meal at or near the beginning of a trip to get right into the magic of it all...then I just tell the characters that we'll see them at the park!
