I swung by DL on a Sunday late afternoon.

I just rambled.

I did get to see the NEMO ride in their non-submarine "observation deck" (is that the right term?).
No queue for that!
And you get a couple of modest features you DON'T get in the submarine, like the little starfish (think "Carl's Jr." in electric blue) who waves to you in the initial screen.

I was listening for new jokes on the JUNGLE CRUISE.
• The lost safari (featuring the rhinoceros) scene had a bad pun by the skipper. -- "I know the bottom guy. His name is "Ahontos". The rhino is trying to "Pocahantos".
< groan!> :)
• The running gag about the Bengal Tiger was applied to the giant spider immediately following. The skipper said, "Tigers can weigh up to 500 pounds and jump 20 feet. Good thing we're 10 feet away, he'll just jump over us. And up ahead, see that giant spider? That spider can weigh up to 500 pounds and jump 20 feet." :)
• Skipper used a tag joke to finish off the "backside of water" joke, namely, "... also called 0-2-H."
• We were stuck at Trader Joe's due to the backlog of boats awaiting to dock ahead of us. So the skipper squeezed in a couple more jokes, like this one. "If you have have any complaints about your ride, write a letter and mail it to this address." Thereupon the skipper shown his spotlight on the (indecipherable) Arabic script on the side of the building where the Aladdin meet-and-greet separates that unit from the Jungle Cruise.

I thought of a joke which could be used by a skipper. The scene is "Trader Joe." Imagine the Jungle Cruise boats are backed up and you've got about 60 seconds to pad. A skipper could use the shaggy-dog-style story, "I went to have dinner with Trader Joe a while back. He had captured a traveling circus troupe and Joe had made us a stew of 100% clown meat. Trader Joe tasted his hot stew fresh off the fire, smacked his lips, and asked me, 'Does this taste funny to you?'" :)

I had a root beer float "after hours" (6:30 pm) in the Golden Horseshoe. :D

The HUNGRY BEAR was open, and for the first time ever, I got to see their menu. Just burgers and chicken sandwiches. But I did walk in the lower area, near all the ducks, under the nice shade. :)

There was a very long queue for HAUNTED MANSION. I didn't know HM had a "bit" for when they turn on the lights at dusk. The PAUL FREES voice comes on, does a "bit" and then the "candles" on the 2nd story are lit and the face of the clock is lit. :)

Got lucky at the REFRESHMENT CORNER. The piano player just started up, and in walks MARY POPPINS and BERT dressed in their Jolly Holiday clothes for a meet-and-greet photo op. :)

Note to self: Must return in daylight hours to see the new "pirate" version of TOM SAWYERS ISLAND (closes at 5:00) and see the pirate band perform. Must try the cajun dishes of the New Orleans restaurants, because it has been so long since I sat down for a proper meal there.

Thanks for the report, potzbie! I never knew that about the HM lighting bit, how cool! We'll have to check it out next time we're there :)

(And I personally like the 'clown' joke :D)
