There were some postings on one of the Disney yahoo groups recently about a family who left a child with special needs at a childcare center. The child was not injured, but had a toileting "accident," and the workers did not handle the situation well (the kid was a mess, and they did not help clean him), and also did not contact the adults, who were dining at that hotel, immediately, citing a problem with the pagers. The centers are fine, but are not, necessarily, well suited for families with children who may have some difficulty with the group setting, or who may need additional assistance. They are not set up to handle toileting issues, for example. I think you may do better with a one-on-one babysitting service, if you make very clear what you need from the service, and if you can get a caretaker experienced with a child with special needs.

It really depends on your situation. you know your child and his comfort level. My nephew has aspergers and definitely would be fine at the clubs. (He is six) There is a variety of activities available, and the children are free to play the computer games and explore at their own pace. Therefore, the problems he encounters in other social settings like school are a non issue. My daughter once had to help a little girl though with getting herself dressed after using the bathroom(dd was ten) she said the ladies told her they couldn't help her pull up her tights and the little girl cried so dd helped her. There must be a rule about helping with toileting or something.
