I was wondering what the rules are for when the park hits capacity. If you have already entered for the day (scanned your ticket) can you still re-enter when the park has hit capacity? Or will you be turned away? We are going to be there from the 21-27 of December and do not want to risk being turned away.
Thanks

ThanksThey do it in levels. When attendance hits a certain point, the booths will stop selling 1 day tickets. Then, they will stop allowing new admits to the park, but you can reenter with a handstamp (even APs need a handstamp.) Finally, when the park is "full", no one can enter. Except for New Years Eve, this will usually pass after the first parade, when people head out for a nap, the congestion eases and the Fire Marshal will allow them to let people back in the park. So, even if you get turned away one afternoon, head to DCA for a couple hours and try again. It will ease in the evening.

Thanks, Malcon. We went from Dec 21-24 during the 50th Anniversary and never even heard anything about the park hitting capacity. I started reading about it on this site and I was starting to get worried about going back midday for a rest at the motel. If you have priority seating reservations in the park will they let you in?

If the turnstiles are closed for capacity, everyone is turned away. Last year a family of 12 or so did not get in the park prior to a closure on NYE, and they had Balcony seating for Fantasmic! They posted a pretty nasty post here about it, even though they had been warned. If the Fire Marshal closes the gates, you don't get in, even if you have reservations. That said, the dates you are going, you may only have a problem from 2-4pm each day. The worst will probably be the 25th-27th of your visit.

I noticed you can still make hotel reservations at most all the hotels on Harbor for the Weekend 21st to the 23rd. I wonder if the crowds will be bad but not so bad since hotels are not yet over booked? we made recent hotel reservations for that particular weekend a couple weeks ago with no problems.

The way the holidays fall this year, most kids are still in school until the 21st, and are out until the week after NYE, so it is not too surprising the hotels are not yet full for that weekend. I think a lot of people will be just traveling or starting to on that Saturday/Sunday, but the locals will be there in force, do not be fooled, the parks will be crowded!

you MUST get your hand stamped I believe even with an AP. I would suggest getting in early, and not leaving especially if it's getting BAD. Better yet avoid it in the first place.
