I had never been to DL in the off season, so when my Partner In CRIME (We'll call her PIC) and I had the chance to hit DL the day before a conference started, we jumped on the chanc! Of course, we hadn't planned this trip, so the arrival time and airport (Burbank, arriving at noon) was all wrong, and the park closed early (8) but hey, we were on the company dime and it was DISNEYLAND!

We were in and out of Burbank airport in our rental car by 12:30, and walking down an almopst empty Mainstreet by 1:45. It was so festive with all of the Halloween decorations. It was just a tad windy, though, so we opted for some indoor rides-Star Tours and Buzz( a first for PIC--she loved it) followed by Pizza for PIC and just a BIG Coke for me. There was a lot of ash in the air from the fire and my throat was dry. Both of those rides were a practical walk on, by the way. We then proceeded to walk on Indiana Jones and Jungle cruise, stopped for a veggie skewer for me, walked on BTMRR (PIC was SO Brave!) then walked on Pirates and HMH. We spent some time browsing the stores in NOS, and called our familes at home to gloat. Pooh was next, follwed by pumpkin fudge. We rode BTMRR again (15 minute wait), wandered over to Fantasyland, and rode the teacups and Mr. Toad. Both of these rides had short lines. We wanted to ride Peter Pan, but didn't want to wait 30 min. I rode autopia with a 20 minute wait while PIC nursed a headache, then we left the part about 7:00, bought presents for the unfortunates who had to stay home at WOD, and enjoyed a lovely dinner with PIC's son and girlfriend at Storytellers. The PIC family loved the GCH. We were whisked to the parking garage by the tram at about 9:30, and found our hotel in Beverly Hills by 11:00. All in all, a very good day!

I think you answered your own question with thousands of SoCal residents threatened by the wildfires. Since most of DL attendance is locals, noone wanted to be out in the horrible air yesterday and today.

But, glad you had a great time! :)
