dawz1026 10-22-2007, 10:06 AM Anyone know what the menu will be like? fantasiapirate 10-22-2007, 02:35 PM I've heard rumors of Asian fusion. littlej 10-23-2007, 11:02 AM What I heard was "pan-Asian inspired." Expect it to be light on the Asian and heavy on the American. I know, I'm probably just being cynical. tdelaney_98 10-26-2007, 06:24 PM I don't know when this place will EVER get done! I was there last week and this is what it looked like: Yak & Yeti (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2415/1736336733_03fef017bd.jpg) dawz1026 10-27-2007, 08:47 AM wow...I may go in April..maybe just maybe it will open by then:confused: HauntedGabe 11-02-2007, 11:57 AM I asked and this is what DW Dining had to say: Geographically, the restaurant will be located in the mythical town of Anandapur, a small, poor, rural village in the Himalayan foothills, just steps away from the new Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain attraction. The grand old house of one of Anandapur's wealthiest merchants has been converted to this fine indoor dining experience featuring his collection of artifacts including statues, fine tapestries and 900 pound, gold inlaid silk puppets. The outdoor seating area will be set amongst lush greenery, authentic artifacts, fountains and a sacred lingham stone river. This Asian-fusion establishment will offer table-service dining, a full service bar, as well as quick-service food and beer garden options, along with retail offerings from Pan Asia ranging from silk purses, incense and saris to fine teapots. It will seat 250 inside for table service dining and 350 in their quick service courtyard. and I still have my pipe dream that it will be open in a few weeks while we are there! : dawz1026 11-02-2007, 12:30 PM I asked and this is what DW Dining had to say:wow..is that just from memory lolol.....sounds good! HauntedGabe 11-02-2007, 01:41 PM Way too much credit you're offering me...they e-mailed it to me! Sounds fun and I so want to go...........I give them two weeks, or I will be so sad. scoobydooby 11-02-2007, 02:16 PM UOG 2008 says it will be open fall 2007 (for me translates as autumn which is now..!) and gives a few menu ideas but don't know if I'm breaching copyright putting them in this post too? HauntedGabe 11-02-2007, 03:06 PM and it is set to open a day before we get there however no Res. being taken yet, my DS CP has friends that work there and nobody has heard a word, and they just extended Space Ship Earth a couple of months due to open at same time, so no new is good news doesn't always apply to WDW and timeframes. We were down there in August dropping DS off for CPing and it looked so cool even then, can't remember being so excited for a eatery to open. Yum. Food. Hungry. Can I pray to eat? littlej 11-09-2007, 07:46 AM I don't know how accurate this is, but this is what I read this morning on another website: Menu includes: Steamed Mussels, Egg Rolls, Chicken Fried Rice, Pot Stickers, Crispy Honey Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork, Kong Pau Beef, Shrimp Lo Mein, Maple Tamarind Chicken, Mandarin Chicken Salad, Baby Back Ribs, Duck, and Cream Cheese Wontons with Grilled Pineapple. Personally, this doesn't sound all that exciting to me. But I'm sure there are plenty of people who will enjoy it! Kwahati 11-09-2007, 08:15 AM Menu includes: Steamed Mussels, Egg Rolls, Chicken Fried Rice, Pot Stickers, Crispy Honey Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork, Kong Pau Beef, Shrimp Lo Mein, Maple Tamarind Chicken, Mandarin Chicken Salad, Baby Back Ribs, Duck, and Cream Cheese Wontons with Grilled Pineapple. Hmm...there are one or two things on there I'd try, but I'm hoping that's not a complete menu... I'm really still praying that there'll be some great Tibetan food there. The last time I had really good Tibetan food was in Amsterdam a couple of years ago. Of course, it doesn't matter to me what they have if they don't manage to get the place open in some sort of timely manner! dawz1026 11-09-2007, 09:03 AM I actually like several items...:) littlej 11-09-2007, 10:31 AM Oh, me too, but I was hoping for something a little more exotic. Tibetan food would have been great! I've never tried it. Hey Kwahati, any places up near me that you can recommend? We go into Philly now and again.... stan4d_steph 11-09-2007, 11:20 AM I don't know how accurate this is, but this is what I read this morning on another website:That's plagiarized from the latest Unofficial Guide. (Unless you got it from touringplans.com) acpalmer 11-09-2007, 11:26 AM That's plagiarized from the latest Unofficial Guide. (Unless you got it from touringplans.com) I'm not the one who posted it, but I saw it this morning on DIS, so it's apparently in several places by now. littlej 11-09-2007, 11:45 AM That's plagiarized from the latest Unofficial Guide. (Unless you got it from touringplans.com) Whoa, that's an extreme characterization!! If you must know, I read it just this morning at WDWMagic.com, and have seen it in several places since (thank you, acpalmer). I have not yet have the opportunity to read the 2008 Unofficial Guide. Although I do not dispute that it may have originated there. Aren't you sweet? :| Kwahati 11-09-2007, 12:34 PM Oh, me too, but I was hoping for something a little more exotic. Tibetan food would have been great! I've never tried it. Hey Kwahati, any places up near me that you can recommend? We go into Philly now and again.... I don't know Jersey at all, unless you count the burger joints at the rest stops on the Turnpike:rolleyes: Now NYC has some serious food. If you ever make it up there, I'd be happy to run down the list of 3-stars with you (hell, I'd drive up there to meet you for dinner!) It costs some serious money (darn cost of living!), but it's worth it at least once in a while... You should come down here though, I'll take you out for the best Indian food this side of New Delhi (I was worried about trying their masala since I got kinda masala'd out when I was in Africa last year, but even that's good from this place!). I just haven't found authentic Tibetan food in the US and it seemed to me the a place called the Yak and Yeti would be the perfect spot for it...oh well, I guess it shows what I know about theming! (Ow! my eyes are hurting from all the rolling!) stan4d_steph 11-09-2007, 01:40 PM Whoa, that's an extreme characterization!! Also, I don't appreciate the snide comment. littlej 11-12-2007, 08:46 AM It's not whether it's in several places right now, and I don't have an issue with it being used on other sites (I'm not the author), but if you pull something from another source it's usual that you would credit the source. Also, I don't appreciate the snide comment. Well, if you meant no disrespect to me by your comment, then I apologize for mine. :) I did not originally cite the source that I saw, because I have seen posts edited before when people referenced "competing" WDW information sites. I stand corrected, and will assuredly very carefully reference any further information I'd like to share. As a librarian for a corporate entity, I'm well aware of legal ramifications surrounding the act of plagiarism. If the source I saw was indeed illegally obtaining and printing information from a copyrighted source, I was unwilling to post a link that would direct others to that site, and therefore generate more income for that site. Now you understand my motivation for not citing my source. It was a mistake made by a beginning user of a message board. I understand and will remember for next time. It isn't my intention to alienate myself from admins! I was only responding because I was hurt by the comment that you made. HauntedGabe 11-14-2007, 07:10 AM I understand Y&Y will open today and am so excited and will be there in a few days. Hope the lines are not too long since there are not ADR. I appreciate all the info. I'm am very new to these boards and have been trying to garner all the info I can for a shorter than usual trip for us, 5 touring days. But Wow, the tone of this thread, ouch! Couldn't someone or an administrator use the "private message" option to guide us to post properly instead of blasting people. I love the info and enjoy the site but really trying to wiggle through those comments certainly takes the magic out discussing our wonder World. dawz1026 11-14-2007, 08:05 AM I understand Y&Y will open today and am so excited and will be there in a few days. I appreciate all the info. dont forget to give a review on it when u return!!!!:D dawz1026 11-15-2007, 06:50 AM Allears.net posted menu, photos etc!!!! looks beautiful and yummy!!!!:D ElephantEars 11-15-2007, 10:56 AM I can't wait to see reviews come in of the food, or pictures of the food. I really see a lot of things I might enjoy on this menu. I'm not sure yet how I feel about the big puppets in the pictures, though. Markfd 11-17-2007, 08:08 PM Does anyone know of Yak & Yeti is currently on the DDP? |
