We are hoping to take a quick trip to Disneyland Dec 20-22 with our 1 year old. Walking distance would be great but we're driving from Oregon so we will have a car if we need to drive to the park each day.
I'd like to find a hotel that is less than $100 a night but that is clean, safe and if possible has a breakfast included. Any ideas?

PS. Is it true that there were/are bed bugs in Anaheim? I want to avoid those!

It's been a while since I've stayed there, but I would recommend the Best Western Park Place Inn directly across the street from the pedestrian entrance to the park on Harbor Boulevard. Their breakfast leaves something to be desired (if I recall, mostly toast) but it IS free.

If you don't mind a slightly longer walk, the Hojos down the street is also quite popular.

We just stayed at Candy Cane Inn and it includes the breakfast....cereal, hot and cold, toast and muffins, and fruit, and drinks. If your a triple A memeber you can get it for $89 a night, two queen beds and its right next to disneyland. Good luck.

The above suggestions are good, but you might find them all over $100 during Christmas Break.

The Motel 6 at Disney Way and Clementime is a reasonable walk (less than a mile) and under $100 a night including tax and free parking.

It is one of the better Motel 6's, and if all you are looking for is a clean room and pool/hot tub, this might be a good choice.

I very, very highly reccomend the Anaheim Plaza Hotel: http://www.anaheimplazahotel.com/ around $70 a night for the time you said and it's close enough to walk. No frills or extras but nice sized clean rooms with a friendly staff!

Edit- On a sidenote I checked and rechecked (and called the hotel several times) for reservations for this Saturday night to be told there was nothing available and now I see every type of room open. Boo! We used Priceline instead and ended up 3 miles away!

Howard Johnson Anaheim resort was awesome. We just stayed there for a week and cannot recommend them highly enough. Was a block from the entrance so an easy walk and the rooms were nice.

heres the results for the date you specified:

I agree with Cari and DarkBeer. The ones you might get for under $100 will be the Anaheim Plaza (www.anaheimplazahotel.com), Motel 6, and the Alpine Inn (www.alpineinnanaheim.com). The Alpine Inn is a small but very clean motel. If the Timon tram is running, you can walk tot he tram and take it to the front.

OOH if you do go to the Hojo, make sure you specifiy a balcony otherwise you get a sliding glass door with 5 inches of concrete outside of it.

I just got back from a 2-night stay at the Alpine Inn and it was just fine. Clean comfy room, fridge, microwave, no fancy stuff, and within walking distance. They do have a continental breakfast but it is VERY limited (coffee, tea, juice, pastries- that's it). Overall, it was exactly what we wanted. How much time do you really spend in your room anyway? :)

I recommend the Carousel. It is close to the pedestrian cross walk and is clean and cheap. Last time, we paid about $89 per night. It is worth it to be closer to the park, especially, if you are visiting with kids. After walking around the parks all day, you won't want to walk all the way back to the Motel 6. I like to avoid all the shuttles and trams because they area always crowded, especially at the end of the day.

Hope that helps.

Here's a link to the Ramada Maingate on hotels.com. We stayed there in March and are again in December. It's 99 a night. We would walk back 2 or 3 times a day with no problem.

Hope that helps.Carousel is great, but during Christmas, my guess is it will be closer to $130-150 a night. I personally would choose it.

Motel 6 is on a pretty good route for ART. We never had the problem going to the Residence Inn, which is on the same route.

Alpine Inn is a hidden gem for us. While it is older, it is extremely clean and comfortable.

Has anyone stayed at the Little Boy Blue in the last few weeks? I saw a post at betterbidding from the manager and he states they are currently renovating the rooms. I'm trying to put together a ladies trip for my church and we need the rooms as cheap as possible with two per room so everyone gets their own bed. Their rates look very reasonable and it also looks like they are close to an ART stop.

Everything I have heard about Little Boy Blue is not good.

It is an older motel with a pool in the middle of the parking lot.

I checked TripAdvisor, where it is rated 90th out of 99 hotels/motels in Anaheim, all the reviews were bad, but the newest one is a year old.

I just checked the rates at Motel 6 for early December, and it quoted me $45 per night for a room with 2 queen beds. (Online booking deal).

Well, that's fair enough. I imagine a lot of hotels look better from the outside than the in. ;)

I really wanted a suite at the HoJos, but they were all booked. So, I took a 2 BR suite at Castle Inn for a lower price than a regular at HoJos.

Thanks, Darkbeer, I'll check it out. That's just about the rate I was hoping to get, without doing hotwire, since I won't know how many rooms we'll need til closer to the date. (this might become our annual winter retreat .. :D )

Best Western Anaheim Inn had rooms at $70/night if booked directly off their website.

I also found Del Sol Inn for $62/night on Orbitz. I've stayed there twice in the last 6 years and it's fine with a cheap breakfast. Just got back from Hojo's and actually like Del Sol better because 1. no fireworks noise 2. no freeway noise 3. closer 4. breakfast 5. microwave comes standard.

AND to top it off, I used this coupon code on orbitz and got $75 off my reservation to Del Sol today in Dec!! SUNANDSKI75 :D
SUNANDSKI150 gets you $150 off a 5 night stay
