The wife and I are flying down to WDW a week from today and are a little unsure what to do about the water situation. Neither one of us are into soda that much. In the past we have driven and just took two cases of bottled water to enjoy during our stay. We would just pack them in a backpack along with several freezer packs and they (and the wearer) stayed cool most of the day. I know the airlines became rather persnickety about weight resrictions lately and that got me to thinking of options. Heres what I came up with so far.

Option 1: Ship some water down ahead of time. (UPS prices negate my savings.)
Option 2: Purchase two camel packs and a water filter to take along. (I have been wanting to buy those and this gives me an excuse to get them.)
Option 3: Chance it at the airport and pack a case of water.
Option 4: Suck it up and pay the price for water because we may not drink that much this time of year.

We will be there for 7 days so any suggestions or options from the hive mind that I havent thought of?

I highly discourage number 3 - that's likely to negate your savings, too. (Assuming 2 cases of 16-0.5 liter bottles=2x16x.5=16 liters is >4 gallons is >33 pounds -- that's highly likely to put you over weight limits with your carrier.)

Option 5: Grocery Delivery Service. I think wegoshop (http://www.wegoshop.com/) and gardengrocer (http://gardengrocer.com/) haver been mentioned here - but do a search for reviews. (We Go Shop is booked through beginning of November, though, for Central Florida).
Option 6: Similar to option 2- but bring a Britta-type pitcher in your luggage and refill bottles from that each morning. (Bring a couple of empties in your carry-on and you can refill them at the fountains after you go through security and have cheap water on the flight that way.

My take would be to go with Drince's option 6. Either use Brita filters or just use a flavor packet of some sort to help with the taste. (Personally, I dont mind the taste of the water from the resorts, but the parks may be a different story.) Refill bottles as necessary.

I did see people with camelback's on and they looked like a great idea.

Even though it may be "cooler" this time of year, it is always a good idea to think hydration, much like you are. You will do a lot of moving throughout the day and you will get thirsty.

If you have other grocery or personal care items that you would like to have in your room, I would go with having a grocery delivery service bring you bottled water, cereal, and any other items you may want. You can review the inventory at the gardengrocer website. The prices are reasonable, and the delivery charge is pretty cheap. I've used gardengrocer for two recent trips.

FWIW, we are going to use garden grocer for our upcoming trip, getting them to deliver half a dozen of the big 3 litre bottles, plus breakfast foods and snack items. the delivery fee is $12 and we figure that is a bargain if we don't have to buy breakfast in the hotel restaurant every morning, and can refill our own waterbottles each day. of course, we don't have the option of bringing it with us from australia and $12 seems like a small price to pay to avoid the hassle of getting to a supermarket by any other way...

I looked into the gardengrocer site and I want to let yall know that is the way I went. Though the minimum order is $40 I found enough items to cover our impending breakfast dilemma and get 8 gallons of distilled to go in the camelpacks. I didn't tell the wife about this yet but I also got her favorite snack and coffee as well so it should be a nice suprise for her when we arrive.

Do you have a Costco membership??? You can have water shipped directly to the hotel from Costco. Staples used to do this w/o a shipping fee as well, but I think they may have stopped.

Sorry, but I just don't see the big deal. Yes, water purchased at Disney will be a bit more expensive, but not that much. Just buy the water as you need it from the hotel, and don't stress about all of the alternate methods of getting fresh water there.

What is it about bottled water anyway? For the most part, we are an old school family, we use a drinking fountain, and tap-water at home. sometimes we do take bottled water on longer road trips, but I just don't get it.

I don't know about other places, but here in DC, you can't trust the tap water or even drinking fountains in Government Buildings. They've done studies on this. You can get really sick! I've got a filter at home, but I fill my Nalgene bottle for work, and if that runs out, I get bottled...:(

Kwahati, I started laughing at your post, but then I remembered....when I was doing state grand jury duty in beautiful :rolleyes: downtown Trenton, NJ, every sink and water fountain in the crumbling courthouse was clearly posted directing people to use ONLY the water coolers for drinking water. Not as funny anymore. :|
