USO is building an entire new area/land themed to Harry Potter. Mostly Anonymous 10-16-2007, 03:15 PM The Harry Potter land is scheduled to open in 2009. Here's a link to the official website (http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/). Not much information yet, but the concept art looks cool! Lost Boy 10-22-2007, 02:16 PM I have a freind who works for Warner Brothers and he is keeping an eye on the Harry Potter area for me. I complained to him that all the are building for the opening is Hogwarts (that is great), Hogsmead (??Nothing of interest there for a land or ride), and the Forbidden Forest (Again, nothing worth going into). He said they have not released all the stuff yet as they want to hold back until things get finalized. But he did say don't give up on Diagon Alley and other places. In the thread in the entertainment area there is a thread on You Tube videos. There is one called Scary Robot Ride. This technology is being used at Legoland right now, and Universal has several things already being used at Universal Hollywood using this technology. Word is that there will be ride based on the wild flying car chase to Hogwarts that will just this ride system. Imagine a car on the end instead of just one seat (They already have two with full sized cars on the end on the Tram Tour Portion of the Universal Studio Tour ride) and instead of the ride just being out in a bare room, it is enclosed with a 360 degree surround screen with all the scenery synched to the movements of the flying car, and presto. A new ride is born. We may get this one ride from the Florida Park out here as it has a small footprint and it could easely go into Universal Hollywood. So we may not get the entire Harry Potter land out here, but we might get one or two rides based on the Harry Potter franchise. |
