View Full Version : Walk-up at Le Cellier? Any other suggestions?
TriggerNut 10-11-2007, 11:49 AM I, like so many others didn't have the luxury (or foresight) to be able to plan our vacation very far in advance and was curious about winging it one night at LeCellier. We are going the 22nd through the 28th and are using the dining plan for the first time also. I am going to follow the advice of the post about calling the day of for a possible reservation. My main question is have any of you had any luck with walk-ups or would it be a waste of time to try? I have read that the DP is great if you know where you want to eat in advance but I want to keep some wiggle room for spontanious decisions. Any suggestions you folks have would be greatly appreciated.
ETA I did make some reservations just to cover the basics like O'Hana and Garden Grill.
GusMan 10-11-2007, 12:10 PM Welcome to MP!
Feel free to give your plan a try, but you may also want to have a backup ADR in place, just in case. LC is a very popular place and I think the chance of a walkup seating is going to be slim, but not impossible, and it never hurts to try and ask.
At the same time, give calling now a try just to see if they have something. It, too, is worth giving it a shot.
tdelaney_98 10-11-2007, 07:21 PM Oh, I don't want to be the Debi Downer, but I cannot imagine getting a walk-up at LeC. Usually they have a person posted at the end of the walkway so that you don't waste your time going to the podium and even asking. That one is booked LITERALLY months and months out. Same thing with California Grill. But hey, what are you out? A phone call? Why not try? You never know if you happen to call the same time someone else has cancelled.
However, I've had luck in getting day of or day before at both Liberty Tree Tavern and at Cape May.
Let us know how it goes and what you decided on!!!
Hey, they should make a dinner at LeCellier one of the dreams for YOMD! Seriously--as hard as it is to get in!! :)
dawz1026 10-12-2007, 10:30 AM Walked up many times only to walk away.Did get to eat there with an adr finally and it was worth it!
TriggerNut 10-13-2007, 11:39 AM Yeah I tried calling again yesterday to no avail but I did end up getting a res at the Chefs de France so it wasn't a total loss. We'll see what happens once we get there and who knows... Maybe I will have good news to report. Thanks again for all the input.
Also, I hate to start a new thread but whats the rumor on the Sosa cigar bar? Is it still a go and have or will they be opening it soon?
cstephens 10-13-2007, 11:49 AM The first time we ate at Le Cellier was as walk-ups, but I wouldn't recommend counting on it. We were there in 1999 during Thanksgiving and there was nowhere to eat because we didn't book six months ahead of time. We ended up wandering over to Le Cellier and explained our situation and asked if there was anything available that we could wait for. They ended up seating us with a short wait at a tiny two-person table in between two provinces, underneath a support beam. They apologized that it was all they had, but we were fine with it. The service was great, and the food was delicious. It's one of the meals I'll never forget.

kymom99 10-15-2007, 09:39 AM It's crazy how quickly things change. In 2004 we walked into Epcot and made a same day ADR for LeCellier. They were booked from 5:00 on but had 4:00-5:00 wide open. That was before the word got out that it was so good!
freedrph0512 10-15-2007, 10:09 PM We walked up to Lecellier when they opened for lunch this past Feb on Presidents Day and luckily after a few minutes of dicussion between the CMs they said they we only had a 15-20 minute wait. Of course a person walking up a few minutes after us was turned being told they didn't have any openings for two weeks.
dizneyraver 10-19-2007, 02:32 PM wow, i, too, just walked up the one time we ate there. now i am trying to get back in and am finding how difficult it is. crazy. and, i don't even remember what i ate other then the awesome cheese soup and pretzel bread! but, it was wonderful enough to demand a return trip, especially hearing so much about the steak.
njtomasella 10-26-2007, 11:05 AM We had asked about doing the walk in thing. They told us if you got there around 4 pm, you would probably get in. My daughter did it and like they said, she got in. (Party of 4). Best place to eat, I might say.

danyoung 10-26-2007, 02:05 PM When did this happen, njtomasella? Over the past couple of years, with the popularity of the Disney Dining Plan, it's next to impossible to get into some places on a walkup basis, with Le Cellier being one of them. You might get a table if you want to eat dinner at 3pm, but all of the good times are gone months in advance.
tdelaney_98 10-26-2007, 06:27 PM Glad you were able to find an alternative to LC in LeChefs. We ate there (LeChefs) last week and we REALLY liked it. I got a filet and it was every bit as good as the one I got at LeCellier. There was a chef's special pumpkin soup that was one of the best soups I've ever had....and I'm a soup natzi!
