How are the crowds right around New Years? Just want to go for a couple days, hang out & maybe do Epcot. Have to convince DH that it's a good idea (doesn't like big crowds).
*Just got back from week long trip early Sept, can't wait to go back!

New Years Eve is one of the days they often have to close the parks to new people coming in.

The week between Christmas and New Years is (I believe) the single busiest time of the year. This year, with New Years on a Tuesday, some schools might have that whole week off, so the crowds may not die down significantly until after that weekend.

If you/your husband don't like crowds, I'd wait until after the 5th or 6th to go.

Hi,
We went down this past New Year's (12/27 - 1/7) it was very busy BUT if you are staying on site and take advantage of EMH and/or get to the park at opening you can get a lot done in the morning. Of course utilizing fast pass is a must.
We decided that we had to be in MK on New Year's Eve, so we got up early and got into the park, rode Splash Mt. right off for a couple of times because it was going down for refurb. and then just causally did the park. We even spent 2 hours on Tom Sawyer island for a break. Then had dinner at Crystal Palace around 5ish for another break from the crowds.
The only thing we had to complain about was there was not a good path thru the central hub and of course everyone was there for the count down and we made the mistake of trying to cross the central hub about 8ish, not fun:(
The marathon weekend is usually the weekend after New Year's so that also keeps the crowds around.

I was actually thinking of going to Epcot on New Years Day... we probably wouldn't leave the resort on new years eve. Thanks for the info!

I wrote a report about my New Year's Eve at Epcot last year. Maybe if you can find it and read it that will help.
