Where is the best place to watch Wishes and Spectromagic in MK?

View Full Version : Fireworks and parades at Magic Kingdom eyenjeff 10-02-2007, 10:48 PM Where is the best place to watch Wishes and Spectromagic in MK? danyoung 10-03-2007, 12:25 PM I like to watch Wishes from the bridge into Tomorrowland. You don't have to line up early to find a good spot. Just move around a bit till you have a good view, and are within range of a speaker tower. I like to view Spectromagic from Liberty Square, near the front of the Hall of Presidents. This has a couple of advantages. If it's really hot out, I can duck into the HofP lobby and cool off before showtime. And there's a funnel cake stand there that makes a nice snack while the show is going by. Good luck! amc1217 10-03-2007, 12:49 PM The last time I saw Wishes, we started out standing on the sidewalk near the soda cart outside the ice cream parlor. About 5 mins before the show started, the cast members opened up our side of the street, so we were able to watch from the middle of Main Street, probably halfway between Casey's/the ice cream parlor and the Mickey/Walt statue. It was awesome! Drince88 10-03-2007, 12:49 PM I often end up watching Spectromagic from near Pecos Bills or right by the Country Bears. This past Easter, we were in the parks late, and the 3 year old decided he did NOT want to ride Aladin's carpets (I never did figure that one out!) - and there was no line - so Daddy took him off and Mommy and his two brothers rode the Carpets with Aunt Cathy. Daddy spotted the parade through the shortcut by the Bears, so they went over there, and we joined them after our spin. It was great, because that morning the 3 year old had made a wish in a fountain to 'Meet Mickey Mouse' - and the first thing they saw in the parade was Mickey! He was very excited about that! But even with us coming up well after the parade had started, we got to see it without too much obstruction! I don't remember if there were one or two parades that night or not, though. If there were, this was likely the later one. Swiss Family Treehouse, although you have a great view of the castle, has too much overhang to watch the fireworks. So don't bother trying it! jengold29 10-03-2007, 12:52 PM I like to watch spectro from the checkers area near the shooting gallery in frontierland. If it's not crowded there's a bench there with a good view and if it is, you can usually drag the checkers stools over and have a good seat. Of course we put them back at the end. :D As for Wishes-- we usually just stand near the Crystal Palace-- we've been known to watch it from the benches on the porch there too. CHEERMOM 10-03-2007, 01:21 PM If we are in the park we like to watch wishes from the Tommorrowland bridge, Tink flies right over you! My fav spot though is on the Polynesian beach, drink in hand, sand in the toes, no crowd to speak of and a picture perfect view! We used to like to watch spectro from the Tommorrowland Terrace restaurant, but now it is a noodle place and the seating by the railing was closed off on the last visit, sigh.:( So dd found a good spot. next to the firestation on Mainstreet. It is where the parade began, and a walkway until right before the start of it where no one is allowed to stop, but right before the parade, they put up the rope and voila! Instant spot and we didn't have to wait for it to reach us! eyenjeff 10-03-2007, 10:04 PM Thanks for all the great ideas! We will be able to see it on three different days so we may try all the places! If anyone else has a favorite place, let me know. bduff 10-04-2007, 03:54 PM A related question, if I can tag on: given the traffic patterns in the park, is it practical to get to the good viewing spots for both Spectromagic and Wishes in the same night? Drince88 10-04-2007, 05:26 PM Usually if I'm watching the parade, I also watch the fireworks. It's not CRUCIAL to be able to see the castle for the fireworks, but it's a nice thing (and you can't see Tink if you can't see the castle). Especially if there are two Spectromagic Parades, I watch the fireworks, usually from near the walkway to Tomorrowland, and then move between the Hub and Main Street for the parade. Or watch the parade first from Frontierland and then walk over towards the Castle, near the Crystal Palace. Remember the walkways in the MK are much wider than at DL, so unless you're right around Christmas, you should be able to easily move around some between the two events. danyoung 10-04-2007, 07:17 PM From my experience, if you want to see both events, you need to see the main fireworks first, and then move into position for Spectro. CHEERMOM 10-08-2007, 07:25 AM We usually don't do both in one night, too long for the kiddos to sit. especially the 2yo! |
