I read somewhere here on the board that someone walked right on HMH with no line, so getting a FastPass was not necessary...but I think that was on a weekday. We'll be in the park from this Friday 10/4 through Monday, 10/8 - coinciding with Gay Days & Columbus Day. I'm expecting the crowds to be heavy (please correct me if I am mistaken).

I'm the family FP runner, so I am wondering if I should I plan to get FP's for HMH, or can I expect save the FP opportunity by riding HMH during a certain part of the day when the line is short?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're already running around collecting FPs, you might as well get them for HMH. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. ;)

We were at the park this Sunday morning at 8 am opening and in 2 hours, without Fastpasses rode: Space Mountain, Autotopia, Alice, Thunder Mountain, Pooh and Haunted Mansion. We also, in this same amount of time collected Fast Passes for later use on Space, Thunder and Splash Mountains, collecitng a new Fast Pass as soon as we could for each of us.

At 10 am the crowds picked up and by noon it was quite busy.

That was me that said I walked on it. I have ridden it at last 4 or 5 times since the 21st on weekdays AND weekends, and it has yet to be a long line (and by long, I mean longer than 25 minutes - I don't think a FP is worth avoiding a line that short). If the line is within the main entrance gate to the ride, then just stand in it, it moves fast and is usually no more than 30 minutes. If the line is outside, you might want a FP. Personally, I think going in the FP line and skipping the whole line que is short changing yourself some of the fun of the ride - reading the tombstones, seeing the decorations, listening to the music, etc. The other thing is, a couple of times I went and the FP line was longer than and moving slower than the stand-by line. I got on the ride before some people who got in the FP line at the same time.

If you compare the line to the other big rides, it is almost never longer or even close to the same as them. Splash easily hits 45-60 min, as well as Space, on a crowded warm day. I would collect FP's for those rides first as they are way more worth it. I have never seen HMH that long in offseason, even on the weekend. Now Christmas week - all bets are off.
