View Full Version : Sea World with 9 month old
Melanie 07-19-2002, 04:44 PM So, parents, what do you think? I think he would love it, since he loves aquariums and the seals at the zoo. He is quite a curious baby who likes to just watch things, he does not always have to be on the go, as long as his attention is kept!
Has anyone taken a baby to Sea World recently? I'd love some advice since they cost more than Disneyland, and I would hate to go and it turns out he just can't see anything. I haven't been in a while.
We're waiting until the vacation crowds go home for D-Land, but we'll be the vacationers in SD!
MouseWife 07-19-2002, 04:53 PM This is only my opinon, and keep that in mind.
I don't know if the exhibits are that great visually for a nine month old. I think it might be a more hands on and show watching event.
On the other hand, perhaps the baby might enjoy the Stephen Birch Aquarium, up in La Jolla. I think it is off of La Jolla Village Drive {help me here someone!!}. All of the tanks are mesmerizing, sort of like little televisions full of color and fish. They also have a gigantic tank where you can just sit and watch the fish.
Some don't care for it and I don't know the price. It is a nice little adventure.
I must say, it isn't a BIG place. One half of the place houses the tanks and the other half has a movie the shows and the rest talks about earthquakes, recycling, stuff like that.
Have fun with the little one!
Melanie 07-19-2002, 08:55 PM Thank you! I have never been there. I will look into it. MUCH cheaper than Sea World, that's for sure! =) $9.50 and apparently they are having a big kick-off for their Shark Exhibit when we'll be in town.
MouseWife 07-19-2002, 09:26 PM Great! Just remember, it isn't a big place. But a nice place.
I don't know if they still offer it at a reasonable price or if you live close enough to use it but they did offer AP's.
Ooo, Shark Exhibit? That sounds cool. Did you find that on the website?
I will have to go and look!!
Melanie 07-20-2002, 03:09 PM Small is good so I will feel like we didn't miss anything by the time Ds is ready to go.
Yes, I saw the shark info on their website:

It's funny, because I just saw a commercial on television for LB Aquarium's new shark exhibit. Maybe it's Shark Season? ;)

May you find your dream Shark exhibit. ;)

I'm not sure that that would be an appropriate thing for a nine month old baby to do, but you might as well give it a try.:D :D :D

AHHHHHHH!!! Hitler is back from the ash!? Oh... you just mean the song from 3 penny opera.:D
MouseWife 07-20-2002, 11:22 PM I know nuthing about a 3 penny opera.
I am thinking of Louis Armstrong.
Or who is that other guy who did it? Bobby Darrin? I prefer old Satchmo. Ohhhhh yeahhhhhhhhh.
Nigel2 07-20-2002, 11:25 PM Funny, they both did that song, but it isn't their own creation. If you have ever seen the movie "to be or not to be" (Both versions are good to me) that is loosely based on it. (or was it the other way arround?)
HTHBellcaptain 07-20-2002, 11:27 PM Ella Fitzgerald received a Grammy for her version of Mack The Knife. The funny thing is she forgot the lyrics half way through the performance and made up the rest of the lyrics. Now that's a performer.
Nigel2 07-20-2002, 11:32 PM Wow, but at least they didn't cut her off like they did to Sinatra at the Oscars one year (they paid dearly for that)
MouseWife 07-21-2002, 09:26 AM Didn't he die right after? No way to make fix that insult.

There are baby (actually, the person working there said they were more like teenagers) rays at the Monterey Bay Aquarium that you can pet, but they always stay away from the edges. People then try to provoke them to wake up from their naps (that makes me sad). Maybe Gemini Cricket knows if they ever come near the edge of their pool. I'd like to pet one someday, but I feel bad for those guys since it looks like they get harassed all day long. :(

Oh, no, no, no, no... this was way before he died, they cut him off because he was rambling on and on and the orchestra had no effect on it.:D
