Does anyone know how to find a convention schedule? We just tried to book Nov 11-14 (same days we go every year) and found all three Disney hotels booked solid. That's never happened in 6 straight years!

Trying to understand if a convention has filled the hotels...or if we're going to be dealing with a packed park, which defeats the purpose of going during the week.

Can anyone help ?

Thank you

There's a SquareEnix Final Fantasy XI fan party at the Anaheim Convention Centre around those dates too (14th/15th something like that)

I don't know if you already have this link, but check out this website. It lets you see what events are coming up by inserting the dates you want, and you can also narrow it by type of function!

Hope this helps!:D

The 11th is Vets Day and the 12th is the day most people get off work. Last year the park reached capacity and gates closed on Vets Day, that is surely contributing to the crowds. That is going to be a very busy time to go!

Hi all.-

I know there are several threads that discuss crowds through the holiday season. Anyone have an idea of the best dates (or absolute worst) to visit in November to avoid crowds?

Thanks!

Last year we went the week prior to Thanksgiving. My extended family has been going that week for the last 3 to 4 years and it's not very busy. It was our first time with our young girls. The weekend of the 10-11 is a holiday weekend. So Monday was very busy and Tuesday was some-what busy but by Wed-Sat the crouds thined out. This year we had a really hard time booking our trip through the WDT company for that week at the DLH. We were trying to book the trip in back in July. They were sold out so we had to book the trip through Alaska Airlines. I've also heard that the week after Thanksgiving and the 1st 1-2 weeks in December are not busy.

Hope this helps.

I was online attempting to book a room at DPPH checking in Nov 10th and they won't allow check-in that day... usually means something is going on...?!? Anyone know of anything that weekend? Should I avoid? Just thinking a 1 day trip on Sat...

I can only say from what I know, for the last two years the 10-11 has had cap. crowds

It is a major three day holiday weekend, Veteran's Day, and as mentioned above, it has reached capacity crowds the past few years.

I would pick another time to visit if you can....

It used to be the beginning of many of the Christmas decorations. I think that people who regularly visit over Veteran's weekend are going to be very disappointed this year.

Weekend before will be nice and quiet (well, at least for a weekend).

Weekend after is the start of the Christmas activities, and the start of Thanksgiving week, very busy, but you get all the Christmas stuff.

I had booked this weekend a while back. i thought that it would be pretty slow...is that not the case? we've gone after thanksgiving, like that weekend and it really wasn't as busy as during the summer months. is this still the case?

i'm still waiting to find out more about the wintertime enchantment thing. and does anyone know the number to call to find out when they will make the candy canes?

When I called reservations this morning to see if I could add a room to our November 25-28 reservation at the Disneyland Hotel, the CM told me that the DLH and Grand Californian are completely booked those days, but that the Paradise Pier is available. I was surprised that the hotels were so filled up right AFTER Thanksgiving...I guess I'm not the only one with that brilliant idea. Here's hoping the parks won't be unbearably crowded (especially since DL is only open 10-8).

Last year we went for 5 days the weekend before Thanksgiving (Thurs-Mon) and it was fantastic. The Christmas decorations were pretty much all up and the parade started that weekend. Crowds were a little busy on Sat/Sun, but for the most part we did not wait around much. I vote go later! :-)

I know this may be a little late, but in regards to the hotel situation, keep calling and be persistent. I booked 1 room in early Sept at the DLH for Nov 9-12 and really wanted GCH. Just called back and got a room at the GCH for a little more than the DLH, of course. That means my room likely just opened up!

Cheers.

I know this is late too....but reading your post... I'm going back to GCH 11/08 and booked my suite 2 months ago...later... GCH was BOOKED!!! Speaking with the GCH vacation planner...she said that I'm not the only one who is thinking ahead...especially during Thanksgiving.

I will be at DL the week after Thanksgiving. Does anybody have an idea what the crowds will be like ? Any help is appreciated.

With all 3 resort hotels sold out I think it is going to be pretty busy. (though I have heard of a few people still getting rooms) Normally the mornings are not too bad if you do Early Entry. Late afternoon into evening it can get a bit crowded. Especially on days there are fireworks.

If you are there for the week it should not be to hard to get everything in.

ummmmm, not what I want to hear! :( We planned the week after Thanksgiving because it was supposed to be less crowded than the second week of Dec (which is when we traditionally go). I want a quiet park darnit!! :p

I'm with you! I'm going the week after Thanksgiving, too. I booked back in August I think, and got a good rate on my room at the DLH (AP4) but I don't want it to be a busy week. I want to stroll around and enjoy things. Okay, I guess I can still do that!

I think, if there is an off-time, the week after Thanksgiving is it. An off-time where pretty much everything (with a few exceptions) is open and the park is decorated for Christmas! I think it will be marvelous -- even if it is a little more crowded than I'd like.

Evidently, conventions can sometimes book up the hotels without impacting the parks as much as we'd think because a smaller proportion of hotel guests visit the parks than your typical summer visitor. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Well the CM I talked to said that he thought the AP4 rate really bumped up the numbers for that week. I was hoping for a nice peaceful week too. Oh well at least we will be at Disneyland. :D

We're going the Monday-Wednesday after Thanksgiving, too. I picked this week last January because we'll already be in Pasadena for Thanksgiving and two of my daughters (kindergarten and 2nd grade) have minimum days that week so they won't miss much school. I, too, was hoping that it would be fairly quiet. Guess we'll need to work Early Entry and get a good spot for the parade and fireworks. We'll still get to experience the magic of Disneyland at Christmas, and that's what matters.
