My son (who will be 16 next year) and I are planning at trip to WDW next Oct. and he pops up last week with the question - Can we go on the Disney Cruise instead?

My question - since no one else will be with us, would we have a good time with just the two of us? Could he hang with me instead of hanging out at the kids areas? Do they frown on teens being in the adult areas? Like in the evenings - is it mostly family entertainment or just adult activities that he couldn't be in? He and I love Disney stuff together (his Dad and brothers don't do Disney). Is it geared towards whole families more, or does it matter? I really don't know much about the cruises, except my boss went last month and really loved it. And I love anything Disney!

You will have a great time! :)

The adult areas are for those guests 18 and over (and they do enforce them -- because some of the adult shows can be a little on the R-rated side). But there are plenty of things you can do together at night (shows, deck parties, meals, movies). The teen area is supposed to be amazing (like a big coffeehouse) and there are a lot of activities day and night (they also will try to seat you with similarly aged people in the dining room).

Please post any questions you have -- enough of us have cruised that we should be able to answer them.

Thanks Niwel. It's hard to imagine not having a great time on the Disney Cruise but since it's just the two of us I'm a little worried we'll be separated and alone alot. Now he says he would like to do it for graduation (which would be 2010). He'd be 18 then so it might be better. And maybe I could talk someone else into going by then!
