I've been off the boards for awhile. Just wondering if any updates across the generation gap bridge have been worked on or if it's still a dingy looking ghost town. Just wondering! :rolleyes:

That doesn't seem likely. From what I've heard from CMs, the rumor is that the buildings may need to be demolished and rebuilt as a result of weather damage and (how to put this...) "Crawly and slithery" things.

Yeah, I don't know, Jeff; even if the place is crawling with critters, it's only cement right now; it would be cheaper to "bomb" the critters than to demolish and rebuild.

"Snakes and things." I was staying at Pop at the time so I didn't want to ask what "things" were.

So maybe I am confused.:confused: Is this not a good place to stay? Or is this area new and unfinished on the Pop property??

Pop Century, as originally planned, consists of two parts - Legendary Years and Classic Years. Classic Years (covering the second half of the 20th century) has been completed and open for a few years now. Legendary Years (first half of the 20th century) was started in 2001 or 2000, and then with the travel turn-down after September, they haulted construction. Right now, they are just shells of the buildings and basically haven't been touched for a few years now.

So you're FINE staying in the Classic Years - and unless you're facing hourglass lake, you wouldn't even have a clue that there's another part of the resort. (And the Legendary Years will have their own food court, store, and resort check-in, so those that wonder how those services could handle twice the people, they don't have to!)

When we were there in May there were men in hard hats and vehicles all over by the lovely pink building shells and when I asked about it a CM told me it was a "big wig meeting". He said there was a "POP rumor that said they are hoping to start again and be done in 2010." It will be interesting to watch and see what happens. On another board there are people looking to find people who are canceling their ressies because POP is booked.
