Am I crazy???

Well, technically I am not alone, my friend from England works at the UK pavilion and is getting me free admission, but he will be working most of the time.

I am a DL vet and have been to Disneyland Paris.

Any advice for people going solo?

Ie: single rider lines (which rides at which parks)

Anything fun to do alone, or maybe a way to meet people? (I am 21, and a Disney geek :D:D )

Thanks!

Kimberly

Here's a thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=73070) from this summer that might answer some of your questions. I enjoy the parks on my solo trips - ESPECIALLY in October with the Food and Wine Festival!!!

I've done solo trips and you are not crazy. Single riders lines are only at Rock N Roller Coaster, Test Track and Expedition Everest. Sometimes, if you are a single rider in other attractions, the seater will need one person to fill up a vehicle. Don't hesitate to volunteer as you will board right away.

Otherwise, relax and enjoy. I'm not the most outgoing person in the world and let my husband do most of the talking at Disney World. But when I'm alone, I talk to people all the time. We've been approached by people who see what hat my husband is wearing. He wore an Ohio State hat because it was the start of college football season. That led someone to ask if he is an Ohio State fan. He's not but our daughter-in-law is. The man who talked to us then told us that Mickey Ohio State pins were available so we checked and now have a stocking stuffer for our daughter-in-law. We also wear NASCAR hats and get approached by other fans. So don't be afraid to strike up conversations with people based on their attire.

Also, don't ever hestiate to ask someone to take a picture of you with your own camera. A lot of people will do that. And you can offer to take pictures of groups so everyone is in the picture. I haven't run into anyone who is frosty when someone talks to them out of the blue.

And don't feel like you will be looked at like you have two heads if you dine alone. Very positive experiences there.

Small story - I was boarding Peter Pan, a definite kiddie ride, and was asked by the seater how many. The seater didn't even look like he could drive and I told him one. He got this big smile on his face and yelled "High Five, Lady!!"

All great points, disnut8!

But to go off of this one a little bit, if I see a group where clearly the person taking the picture is part of the group, I'll quite often ask if they want me to take it. I think the only time I've been turned down when it was a younger son taking a picture of Mom and Dad - and he was really wanting to take a picture of just them. I do this when I'm with people some, but a LOT more when I'm by myself. I figure it's just my way of spreading a little Disney Magic!

According to MP, the guides on WDW, Splash and Space also have single rider lines, is this correct?

Mission:Space USED to have single rider - until they added the less intense version - now that uses the former single-rider queue.

I don't recall Splash Mt or Space Mt having distinct single rider queues.

That's correct although there are always rumors out there any time an attraction goes down for refurb that a single riders line will be added.

Hi Kim!

1) No you're not. I used to work at WDW and i loved going alone to the parks (its was fun "me" time) I had no family or friends in the area esp at first so it was a nice way for me to relax and such.

2) I don't know about many single rider lines (my memory isn't that great and when i was there they were so new i didn't get to use them too much but i'm fairly sure Mission space has one. . . and perhaps the Expedition Everest at Disneys AK.

Obviously its generaly the rides that are wicked popular. . . :)
For instance . . .

In MK - i'd check the Haunted Mansion, Pirates and the three Mountains (Space, Splash and Thunder)
In Epcot - i'd check Mission Space, Soarin, Nemo
In MGM - Great Move Ride? Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror
In AK - Kilamanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids, and Expedition Everest

I don't know any of these for sure but those would be my first guesses.

On a side note (i worked in AK) on your way in, my suggestion would be to get your Fast Pass for either Kali or Expedition Everest first and then hit the Safari. The animals are the most active in the morning.

As far as other things to do. . . I liked doing Disney alone mostly b/c of the obvious. . you can move at your own pace and do the things that truly interest you. I spent a lot of time at Epcot countries, and i'm a character geek so i did a lot of the rides I loved. :)

Anything fun to do alone, or maybe a way to meet people? (I am 21, and a Disney geek )

Meet people . . . hmmmmm. . . i'd suggest places like Pleasure Isand, which isn't HOPPING but does have some club like life in it. .. i like the Rose and Crown Pub in epcot to sit at the bar and talk to people (or Raglan Road in Downtown Disney West Side). .. . or its fun to get to a show early like Fantasmic and talk to the family you're sitting next to! :)

Hope this Helps!

I haven't been there by myself, but I've explored strange cities on my own several times and surprised myself by having an absolute blast. You get to move at your own pace, do only what you want to do and absorb things in a way you might not if you were with someone. Plus you never know who you might meet or what you might get to do. I would be a little nervous if I was going on my own, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it. I'm sure you will have an amazing time and I hope you'll write a trip report about it when you get back. :)

People watch! This is my favorite thing to do when I go to the parks alone (which is a lot). Get an ice cream or dole whip and just kick back in the shade.
