View Full Version : Kids Club Questions [WDW]
lorelei1052 09-24-2007, 04:13 PM We are going to the World next week and have reservations for DD 4.5 at Simba's Cubhouse. I'm interested in any experiences with kids clubs and/or advice to help us out (this will be our first time using one). I'm a little nervous about leaving our little one but yet I am looking forward to some adult time, including dinner at Jiko.
Also, should I tip the child care providers?
Thanks, in advance, for your feedback!!

Good question, I never even thought of that!
My kids will be going to one when we go to the Party for the Senses, I still have to decide which one though.
Wendi 09-24-2007, 04:41 PM I used Simba's Cubhouse for the first time last week. Max is almost 6 and he LOVED it!!! He got to build Lego stuff... his favorite thing in the world. They played board games and there were movies to watch. They feed the kids dinner and there are plenty of items to choose from, then they had milk and cookies later in the night. Everyone was super friendly and I felt very comfortable leaving Max in their care. It's $11/hour and I didn't tip - I probably should have, but I guess I just didn't think about it at the time. When I think of a babysitter or daycare I always just pay the hourly rate and never thought about tipping, so I'm not sure if it's standard practice at the kid's clubs or not...
witneys7 09-24-2007, 05:55 PM oooohh--on site daycare-a whole new world of possibilites just opened up:) Where is Simba's Clubhouse, and if it is at a particular resort do we have to be staying there? Also, do they take only kids that are potty trained? Probably, but I thought I would ask:) Also, do you know if they have a check three children in get one free or some such special? lol. I have 5 kids and for a six hour respite it would be $330, though totally worth it :)
thanks!
lorelei1052 09-24-2007, 06:34 PM Thanks for the quick responses. It was nice to hear that other kids had a good experience! I have no idea if tipping is appropriate or necessary so, Wendi, I wouldn't worry that you didn't. Like you, I don't tip daycare (unless it's like a Christmas present) so it may actually be more awkward to tip? I just like to be prepared!
Witneys7--We are staying at Pop Century but signed up at Simba's Cubhouse at the AKL. We made a reservation. Not sure about multiple kids discounts as I only have one but it may be worth looking into? I've also read about in-room babysitting. Perhaps you may want to look into that option? Maybe others have used the babysitting services?

I don't THINK they accept kids in diapers, but I'm not positive about that.
But 6 hours would be a long time - I think most people do it for a nice meal or something like the Party for the Senses - 2-3 hours is probably much more common of a duration.
mom22gls 09-25-2007, 09:37 AM In August, we used two of the Kid's Clubs. We used Simba's clubhouse while we had dinner at Artist's Point at the WL, and we used the Sandcastle Club at the Beach Club (where we were staying at the Villas), and enjoyed the Boardwalk. The kids had a good time there, and it was worth it. They do not take kids under 3. I felt very comfortable having my kids there, and would definitely use the service again. It's really nice to be able to have an adult meal or go out for a drink, without the kids, and I think they liked the break from us too.
Wendi 09-26-2007, 10:52 AM I'm pretty sure the ages are 4-12 and they must be potty-trained.
