Hello all- My 16 year old daughter and I have made a girls trip to Disneyland since she was 10. This year I have "twisted" her arm and "convinced" her to try WDW. (I went for the first time 2 years ago with my husband for a convention) My questions are: 1. Is 10 days too long? We are not planning on visitng outside of the resort. 2. Does going during GLBT days make that big of a difference in park attendence, does it affect all parks or mainly MK? (I really am only concerened with lines and crowds not anything else associated with GLBT days) Thank you for any guidance you have.

Lisa,
My family (of 4) has also decided to fly to the East and do WDW in June 2008. We live in Nor. Cal and frequently have done DL but want this to be a first experience for the kids (hubby and I did it for our honeymoon back in 96). We have decided to do 10 day hopper passes with water parks and have 12 nights reserved at POR from June 8-20. I read afterwards that we will be arriving during the GLdays but don't think it will impact us in any way. I am so looking forward to the trip and can't wait until it's June!

I think with the 4 parks, waterparks, Downtown Disney, the hotels, June level attendance, time to just chill by the pool or whatever relaxes you, & that it's the first time for some of you, 10 days will be absolutely PERFECT! I'm jealous!!! Have a wonderful visit!!! I'd love to hear about your experience when you return...

I don't think many folks here will think 10 days is too long :p
We generally go for 7 nights and it's never quite enough for me. I think 10 days sounds great. I've never gone during GLBT days, but FWIW I researched it last year because I thought we might. The consensus seemed to be that it's not problem. As far as crowds you can avoid the GLBT planned park for each day if you want.

Since this is your first visit to Disney World, ten days is not too long. Disney World is much bigger than Disneyland and you will have to take Disney trasnportation everywhere since walking between the parks is limited (you can only walk between MGM and Epcot and that's a 15-20 minute walk).
We've done several 10 day June trips and have felt the length to be just right to get almost everything done and not be in a hurry. We usually planned (very loose plan) for two days at each park (yes, MGM was a full day + park for us since my son is so into movies and Animal Kingdom is always at least one day since we're nature lovers), one day offsite (Universal one year, Kennedy Space Center another year), and then one day to do whatever. I only planned the first for days, visiting one park each day and making dining reservations accordingly. After that, we just planned our next day the night before. We switched "early days" (before noon but never at a rope drop) with night visits but sometimes we'd just go all day.
You have a lot of flexibility with ten days so you really don't have to do mega-planning but just a general loose guide.

Just to be accurate, you don't HAVE to take Disney transportation - you can use your own vehicle (or rental car). I usually fly into Orlando's airport, and I always rent a car. I just don't like waiting around for a bus when I can leave my room, hop in my car, and be there. It's also nice at the end of a park day, not having to cram in shoulder to shoulder with all the other hot tired sweaty people in a bus. Just my preference.

10 days sounds perfect! For all the reasons listed below. I've done both, with and without a rental car. Since this is a longer trip, if you can swing it, you might want a car. You said you're planning on staying on property the whole time, but after a couple of days, you guys might be curious about what's outside, or you might just need a break. It's also a lot more convenient when visiting other resorts (no buses direct between resorts), or when spending an evening at the Boardwalk, etc. When we go, the only time we wish we'd rented a car was getting home from Downtown Disney. There are buses from there to the resorts, but they always seemed to take so much longer.
