Grandma is going with us to WDW and we need an electric wheel chair.

Do you rent these at the same place the strollers are rented?

Can you reserve one in advance or is it first come first serve?

Thanks!

yes, same place and no, you cannot do it in advance and inventory isn't guaranteed. there is a length of stay option for wheelchairs but not ECVs.

How much are the scooter/electric wheelchairs at the park? I called a medical supply place in orlando, and they are $30 a day.

According to the WDW pages on MousePlanet, ECVs are $35/day with a $5 deposit. Additionally, you rent the ECVs INSIDE the parks, so getting from the bus stop to the area inside the park where you can rent the ECV can be a bit of a trek. Additionally, some of the resorts are quite large, and just walking around there can be a bit of a strain on someone who tires easily or can't walk extended distances.

Cheaper and easier to rent off-site than at the Parks. allears.net has a listing of area companies-but, you're right, they are all about $30-35 a day. If you do decide to rent at a Park, get there early-and remember that you must return the EVC when you leave the Park-and there's no guarentee that one will be available to rent at the 2nd Park. A regular wheelchair is available at each resort-for your length of stay at no charge.

Sorry it took so long to comment on this post, but I just saw it. There is a relatively new option at WDW. Buena Vista Scooters is located on the Boardwalk, at the same place where you rent those pedal carriages you see all up and down the Boardwalk. They are $30/day and you have them 24/7. They will deliver & pick up, free, to any of the resorts. (unlike most of the suppliers off-site.) I have used them twice, now, & will use them each time I go to WDW. It is best to reserve one in advance, just to be sure you will get one. You can call them at: 407-718-5039. Or you can call them toll-free at: 866-484-4797. At either phone # you leave a message, along with a phone # where you can be reached, & someone will call you back. They also have a web site at: www.buenavistascooters.com These are new scooters & I think you can get a canopy for the scooter, for an additional price, although I've never gotten the canopy. They just get in my way.
Hope this helps.
