Also, allearsnet.com has a great section on the dining plan. Both will get you what you need to know. I do know that it has changed somewhat. Good luck. It is like a buck cheaper but you no longer get an appetizer with your table service. In most cases, it will still be a good value, depending on how you use it and where you eat. Drince88 09-25-2007, 04:01 AM I thought I'd posted this yesterday! This WDW Update (http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd070806mg) has links to the WDW official pages about the various dining plan options for 2008 KJSJpipe 09-25-2007, 05:33 AM While this is a good guide, it is also noteworthy to mention that the plan will change for '08. I knew I was forgetting to mention something! Greg in TN 09-25-2007, 02:32 PM While this is a good guide, it is also noteworthy to mention that the plan will change for '08. I believe another change is that the tip will no longer be included. So in essence they're taking the appetizer & the tip out of the DDP, but only charging $1 less  . tdelaney_98 09-25-2007, 02:53 PM I would SERIOUSLY crunch numbers based off of the current menus either here or on allearsnet. With the new changes, unless you're eating filet or salmon every meal, I cannot imagine that it is a terrific deal. Now if you're looking for convenience, for pre-paid meals, and such, then it might not change your opinion much. We're doing the 07 version in a few weeks. If we go back in 08, we'll just eat at the same TS and just share an appetizer, main, and dessert. I'll still get to taste my favorite stuff, but won't gain 10 pounds. :p Hey, there's my own dining plan! Slightly off-topic, but do any of the TS restaurants charge a split plate charge? That would really change my plan!! wishiwasthere 09-26-2007, 09:05 AM Tina- I think they all charge for a split plate. Not positive, but I thought I heard that somewhere. tdelaney_98 09-26-2007, 06:53 PM Kristin, then that would certainly impact my theory then, huh? :p I guess it depends if it is a $2 plate or a $10 plate charge! I'll check it out when I go in a couple of weeks! Thanks! Diznie 09-29-2007, 05:35 AM I used the dining plan this year and even though the actual cost of the food exceeded the price I paid for the plan, I don't think I'd use it again. I made reservations for a Table Service every day because I felt that I needed to get the most out of the plan and having a table service once a day was an advantage over counter service every meal. As it turned out, we felt like we were slaves to the dining reservation for each day. Counter service can be done any time of the day, but there was only two out of the six days that we really enjoyed having a table service to go to. Even though we thoroughly planned our attraction agenda many things happened to change that--people wanted to go on rides twice, we lost things and had to add stops at the lost and found, getting wet made us go back to change clothing, buses were late, etc. We always felt like we were skipping things to rush to dinner on time. One time we had to skip Soarin because we'd be late for lunch. So the next day we had to go to Epcot just for Soarin and that put us behind again. The one day the weather was perfect for a water park, we had lunch reservations that would cut our day in half. Service at some restaurants was much slower than others, so we had to nix part of the plans for the evening. Some of the table service restaurants were not good at all, so I really regret the things I missed just to get there. Next time I'll make two table service reservations for the entire trip and then we'll be less hassled and free to be flexible and eat when we want to eat. dawz1026 09-30-2007, 06:03 AM I used the dining plan this year and even though the actual cost of the food exceeded the price I paid for the plan, I don't think I'd use it again. That would really change my plan!! Hey Tina, As of when we went in May-there was no split plate charge-but that could have changed as of now or certainly when the new plan is implemented in January '08. I asked at several places if we could share. I was discouraged strongly. Being a WDW newbie and unwilling to get in a confrontation over it, I didn't push-but that's me. For those places that I wanted to "share", here's what I did, for 3 adults-2 adults ordered the whole enchilada and I ordered an entree or a starter plus my beverage and paid OOP. Worked perfectly. tdelaney_98 09-30-2007, 04:46 PM TJRJ--Thanks for the info. That sounds like a great idea. There's always so much food! As long as I'm not on the DDP, I think it should be OK to buy whatever one wants and share. It's OOP! Now, If I asked for a window seat at Cali Grill and then ordered a dessert or something, that's not cool (I don't think you can do this anymore, anyhow). Fabbo info! Thanks! CHEERMOM 10-05-2007, 07:07 AM My daughter and I have done this several times and there was never a charge, some servers even plated it on two separate dishes for us before bringing it out. We weren't on the dining plan though. I don't know if it would work any differently. JTM 10-09-2007, 07:09 PM I was trying to decide on the dining plan for a Jan. 08 trip and noticed that the list of restaurants has changed as well. Am I crazy or are there not as many table service restaurants participating? tdelaney_98 10-09-2007, 10:54 PM I think that sometimes the restaurants are managed separately so that they have to negotiate their participation every year. I am pretty sure the same thing happened last year and then more kicked into the program as the new year came nearer. I'll bet someone can tell us one way or the other--Hang tight until the others find your question.... Drince88 10-10-2007, 04:42 AM That's what happened last year, but I'm not sure exactly when they added the additional restaurants. This is especially true for the Epcot restaurants. acpalmer 10-11-2007, 06:49 AM I've seen information several places that says that the full list of restaurants is usually published in mid-November. |
