I'm doing the TOT 13K with a friend next month. I have an AP, but she doesn't and will need to purchase passes for the weekend--the cheapest appears to be the discounted tickets through the TOT signup page. Will she need to plan on having park entry for the race? We probably wouldn't otherwise spend any add'l time that day at MGM (as the stuff we want to do is open for the after race party) and we weren't sure if she needed to get the hopper option on her passes.

If she wants to be at the after-race party, she will need to buy a ticket for that. I don't think the Studios will be open during the race, so the only access is by having a spectator ticket or being a participant.

Most of the race will be outside of the Studios though, so she could probably cheer you on at another point along the course if she doesn't want to pay for the extra ticket.

You don't need a park admission to participate in the race. I think that sometime in the next couple of weeks final instructions will be posted for starting line procedures. It looks like runners line up somewhere outside Disney Studios. If you are not planning on spending the earlier part of the day in a theme park then don't count Saturday when you figure out how many days you need for the multi-day ticket. Your race registration is all you need to be admitted to the after party.

We also bought our 4 day hoppers through the ToT discount offer -we saved nearly $100 per ticket - definitely a great deal.:)
