Hello from Georgia --

I have just scheduled our first cruise with Disney aboard the Magic for the 7 night Western Carribean cruise for December 27, 2008 (Yes, I know it is more than a year away). We are a family of 6 (ages -- 40, 42, 20, 10, 7, 5) and reserved adjoining staterooms. I have read some message boards and people talk about the Bon Voyage Party, Formal Dinner, Pirate Night, etc. I cannot find any information about this on any site or in any of the information I have received. If anyone can give me more information, I would be so grateful. How do you know what night is what...Do you have to wait until you board the ship? If so, how do you know what to pack? Also, since this cruise will be out to sea on New Year's Eve, do they have a special celebration?

Help!!!

Welcome to the world of DCL

A lot of people can give you insight on which night is which. There is usually one formal, one semi and the rest casual. The Pirate night is all about Pirate gear (they have things they give out, or you can bring your own).

They have special things that happen on New Year's -- I haven't taken a NYE trip, but some padders have.

Happy to answer any questions you have. :)

Something I have found to be very helpful is the Passporter Guide to Disney Cruises book. That book has everything in it and answersed almost every question that I had.

Thanks for the information. I am so excited. I wish it were this December instead of next!!!

You may also want to check the message boards at cruisecritic.com (or any other cruise enthusiast website) for information.

I'm going on my first cruise this year. I've been reading lots of trip reports and the Passporter Guide to Disney Cruise Line. You'll find most of your questions answered in the book. I did. It's awesome knowing ahead of time what you can look forward to. I can't wait for my cruise!
