We have booked already for Jan 19th for five nights, but I am reconsidering because of the threads I have read on different sites about the large crowds over MLK weekend. The only other weekend we can go is Jan. 5th for five nights. Should I switch or not? Any advice would be appreciated.

January 5th and 6th gives you many of the Christmas things including parades... plus some last minute people not back to school yet.

Otherwise over a long weekend after that you may see more locals on the weekend days but far less people on the weekdays.
