I'm going to write a full trip report soon, but I wanted to share a story of Disney CMs going above and beyond to make things right.
Our DME pickup time at the Beach Club was for 1:40 PM. We wanted to spend the morning in EPCOT, so we dropped our bags at the Bell Desk in the lobby and were informed that we could retrieve them at the valet station outside a few minutes before it was time to leave.
We got back to the valet station at 1:25 and our bags were waiting for us on the hanging rack. The CM told us we could wait right there instead of going across to the bus stop with our 5 bags and he'd help us get them on to the bus.
As we were waiting, we watched two buses with Disney Cruise Line exteriors pull up to the bus stop, do their business and pull away. We do not see any buses with the DME paint job.
After approximately 25 minutes of waiting, we ask the CM if the bus is late. He tells us "No, it left at 1:42 PM." Turns out that one of those Cruise Line buses was our DME, but we didn't know and no one had told us.
The CM calls the dispatch to see if we can get on the 2:20 PM bus, but unfortunately, it was full. One of the CMs at the valet station offered to take us back in his personal car because he was concerned we'd miss our flight, but we had plenty of time. So the hotel sprung for a $60 taxi ride back to the airport.
I know $60 is nothing compared to what we spent that week, but sometimes it truly is the thought that counts. That's the attitude that makes me happy to spend so many vacation dollars on Disney.
