Well the Hubby was so kind to surprise me with a puppy BUT she ate my shoes. They were old shoes and need to be replaced any ways but its hard to find shoes in my size. I am a size 4. So the question I guess is where can a kid find some nice comfy walking shoes these days ? I would like to keep the cost down.

I decided "I'm worth it" and went to a running store to get my shoes for 'fitness walking' (my knees and other body parts won't handle running). After getting fit there, I figure I can get new shoes of the same model online cheaper when these need to be replaced. (I wear a woman's 10W, so fit is an issue for me, too)

Go to a good running store and get a proper fit on some shoes. Talk to the salesperson about your budget and needs. Bringing in a pair of your old shoes is also helpful to allow for analysis of your gait.

You should get shoes that have mesh uppers if you will be walking in warm weather. That way your feet can breathe and the sweat can escape.

As Drince said, you can always buy the next pair online or in the discount store after you have been fitted with the proper shoes.

Also, you might want to look at this thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=76946). It was more about shoes for in the parks, vs 'fitness' type shoes, but it might have some ideas of help for you.
