View Full Version : 1 800 number?
witneys7 09-17-2007, 11:12 AM I have been reading these boards religiously for a few days and yesterday I saw a 1-800 # written in a post for reservations at WDW. I have heard of such a myth but can't seem to find that post. Does anyone know of the post of which I am speaking or know the actual number? Thanks!
bradk 09-17-2007, 11:13 AM 800-828-0228 for both reservations and dining
witneys7 09-17-2007, 12:17 PM thank you! I wonder why this seems to be a hard number to find, or I have I just been looking in all of the wrong places?:)
SuefromRI 09-17-2007, 01:49 PM I've never seen it mentioned that there is an 800# available in any planning book or WDW publication. The only way I knew about it was here on MousePad. Unless you have unlimited long distance it can save money over the 407# since there are so many prompts before getting a person and then they ask soooo many questions. Once again MousePadders are the BEST.
danyoung 09-17-2007, 02:15 PM The 800 numbers are for specific situations. They will accept all calls, but they aren't really for general public use.

I'm sure this is true, but I've used the 800 number for years and have never had a problem. It's not like I'm not already giving them basically all of our disposable income :p This way I'm also willing to stay online and do the survey they always ask you to do, I wouldn't if I was having to pay for the extra minutes on the call!
Burnt Toast 09-18-2007, 09:41 AM You're also costing Disney money every time you use that 800 number. They get charged for every single call that is brought in through that number. That's why they don't advertise it very much and it's meant for AAA, travel agents, or other groups... not for general consumption.

Yep, but what they spend on my calls is an itty bitty drop in a great big 'ol bucket compared to what they make off of me because of the reservations I make on that call. Obviously must be worth it to them because they make absolutely no attempt to block calls to that number by average joes or to route us to a toll number. I'm guessing most people that find the toll-free number are ones that send a lot of money disney's way.
bradk 09-18-2007, 12:31 PM i don't think there's any need to justify using it. it's there. if it's not meant to be used, they could take steps against it. disneyland delivears has an 800 #.
there's actually a different number specifically for TAs altogether (800-64x-xxxx).
danyoung 09-18-2007, 01:26 PM I guarantee that Disney doesn't want the number spread around on websites like this one. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised that by doing so you may have forced Disney to shut this one down. True, there's no harm in using it, and I don't at all mind letting Disney pay for the call, with all the money I spend with them. But it's a fact that there is no 800 number that Disney wants everyone to know about. They'd rather use them for specific purposes.
bradk 09-18-2007, 02:47 PM still. in your worst case scenario, they change or disable the number and nobody can use it anyway, so same effect for those who don't wish to use it now.
plus if you google it, you'll see it's been tossed around for quite some time and even sites like allearsnet and passporter (the actual site, not the forums) promote its usage. so i don't think mouseplanet has much to worry about in that respect.
if you don't want to use it, don't, but if you actually call it sometime, you'll see there's nothing that distinguishes it as a special line.

Someone forgot to have their morning latte. No need to jump all over me. :I
Have a magical day.

Hi Dan! All due respect, but I don't think Disney has any problem with the general public using their 800 number. I first got the number to use from a 2002 copy of the Unofficial Guide. I don't know when they first listed it in the book, but I think I've seen it in every edition since. If Disney didn't want the Unofficial Guide to print the number, wouldn't they long since have asked them to leave it out? Besides, I've been told by Disney phone reps that I can give friends the 800 number to use.
danyoung 09-21-2007, 10:25 AM Good to know.
witneys7 09-22-2007, 04:56 PM bradk, thank you for posting the number! I certainly appreciate it, though I feel a little bad it caused a little contention, sorry:(
