View Full Version : Living in Anaheim for a week-- which hotel?
jimnyo 09-16-2007, 04:14 PM our family is moving to LA the last week in october/first week in november. we have enough hilton points to stay at a hilton owned hotel for a week (includes embassy suites, homewood suites, doubletrees, hiltons & hampton inns). we have DH, myself and 2 kids (3 year old & 6 month baby). i'd like to stay in a 2 room suite and originally booked our hotel reward at the homewood suites. but then i was thinking maybe it'd be better to be closer to the park so baby could come back for naps. but the embassy suites south (which i believe is the closer one) keeps getting bad reviews for fire alarms in the middle of the night? the homewood suites has the advantage of being across from target and walking distance to groceries, full kitchen, guaranteed 2 room suite (the doubletree and embassy i think have regular rooms and i'm not sure you can guarantee a suite with the hotel reward), free full breakfast & light dinners and free internet in the rooms. we may not have our car yet, so the parking fees are not really an issue. any thoughts? thanks!

They have great breakfasts, and are on ART so you could take the baby back for a nap. It shouldn't be too busy that week. We will be there Oct 27-30.
MauiMickey 09-16-2007, 06:04 PM The Homewood Suites is a fantastic hotel! We just returned from a week staying there in August, and have booked a two bedroom suite for March 2008. The food is a great perk, and we enjoyed everything about the hotel.
Parking is free at the HS, too, so if you do happen to have your car, it's not an extra expense. The ART is very convenient, and you really shouldn't worry about being that far from the park. It's never been an issue for us.
Enjoy your stay!
jimnyo 09-16-2007, 09:52 PM thanks for the replies! just what i needed to put my mind at ease. i'm always so indecisive when they are too many choices (which of course, when it comes to d-land, there always are!).
malcon10t, didja mean you're gonna be at homewood suites or disneyland 10/27-30?
mauimickey, are you literally in maui? we're moving from honolulu! :crying:
I'd recommend the Residence Inn by Marriott but it's not *quite* within walking distance, but they are designed for longer stays, with living rooms. But they're a Marriott place...

I'm glad I could help reassure you! Best of luck with your move. I hope all goes smoothly for you and I hope you are able to get back to Hawaii sooner than later.
And no, I'm not in Maui (BC, actually)...just wish I was. My username just indicates where my heart lies (Maui or Disneyland). :)

Actually, Homewood Suites and Residence Inn are very comparable properties as far as the amenities and such. I'd stay at either property without a second thought and have stayed at both in Anaheim.
The best perk of all with both hotels is the great breakfast and the "manager's reception" from 5-7 Monday to Thursday. Their "snack" is more than enough for a meal for our family.
but the embassy suites south (which i believe is the closer one) keeps getting bad reviews for fire alarms in the middle of the night?
hmm..we've stayed at embassy suites south several times and never experienced the fire alarm situation you mentioned. We like the hotel overall and the breakfast and afternoon food/drinks are great. On the down side, parking can be tough as the lot is shared by multiple hotels. I've never stayed at the Homewood Suites, so I can't compare them, but just wanted to provide a little info on E.S. Hope all goes well regardless of where you end up!

malcon10t, didja mean you're gonna be at homewood suites or disneyland 10/27-30?We will be at Disneyland from the 27th to the 3th, staying at Hojos. My preference would be Residence Inn on Clementine, but Homewood Suites is my second choice.

Cool! We'll be at the HoJo from 10/26 to 29! A quickie, with grandpa and grandma. Should be fun.
