View Full Version : Which Character Dining is best for breakfast?
iLuvDisney26 09-15-2007, 03:10 AM Our choices to pick from are Chip N Dale at the GCH, Lilo & Stitch at Paradise Pier, or Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel (we are not going in to the parks so we are NOT including Minnie & Friends). It will be a treat for all of us the day after going to Halloween Treat! :p We have been to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner and it was awesome. We have not tried it for brunch. Please let me know which one you think is best and why? (such as better breakfast foods, more choices in food, more character interaction, etc) Thanks!!
ochibiyo 09-15-2007, 05:05 PM Hi! I can answer for two of them. The Lilo and Stitch was great, the food is good. But we go for the characters there, the last time we went, the entire cast - which was Lilo, Stitch, Daisy, Minnie and Pluto - went to the tables twice. Plus they play games for the kids. The Chip and Dale was so so. The food is fantastic, but the characters don't do much. My niece was scared by the bear, Coda I think. Hope this helps!
Goosegirl 09-15-2007, 05:20 PM We go to Storytellers every time we go. My daughters love the animal characters and the food is incredible. This year I got P.S. for both Storytellers and Lilo and Stitch, but my family is still saying they want Storytellers. We did Goofy's Kitchen a few years ago and it was fine but not the best in my opinion.
Partymagic 09-15-2007, 09:36 PM We just got back from Disneyland last Saturday and we did Goofy's kitchen as well as lunch at Ariel's Grotto.
We absoultely loved Goofy's kitchen. The food was outstanding, so many choices and everything I tried was fantastic. The service was great as well. We had awesome character interaction with Gooofy at our table twice, Chip, Dale, Belle, Baloo, Mad Hatter and Pluto when you first arrive. My 3 yr old DS had a ball when they called all the kids up to play pots and pans as well as dance with Goofy. It was a highlight of our trip and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
mousemom 09-15-2007, 09:48 PM I agree with the person who said that Lilo and Stitch was a lot of fun. My kids probably had the most fun there of Lilo, Storyteller's and Goofy's. However, my boys would be the first to say that Goofy's was better because you can eat icecream for breakfast! I would say that for a brunch the food is better at Goofy's and there is a lot of character interaction there. Storyteller's probably has the best food but not as much interaction. If the top priority was 1. a wide variety of food then 2. character fun for the kids I would definitely say Goofy's. If you are fine with a buffet of purely breakfast food while character interaction and fun for the kids is the most important then I'd say Lilo's. You can't go wrong with either though!
PanFan 09-15-2007, 10:04 PM We were going to go to Storyteller's once, but didn't want to shell out $12.95 (or some ridiculous amount like that) for a plate of pancakes. And none of us were hungry enough for a buffet. We ended up at Paradise Pier and enjoyed breakfast burritos and waffles for something like $8.95. They did try to automatically give us the buffet (saying, "What would you like to drink? Orange juice, coffee and milk are included."), but once we realized what they were doing, we requested the regular menu and were happy with the options. As there were all adults in our party, character interaction wasn't our top priority, though we did enjoy some time with Lilo, Stitch, Minnie, and Pluto (Daisy and Max were there as well when we went on another trip, but Pluto wasn't). I haven't eaten at Goofy's, though I stopped by today and said hi to my cousin who was eating there for brunch. She said it was $65 for her and her husband to each have the buffet, which sounds comparable to the others. I would guess they have a regular menu offering as well, but don't know that for sure. In the 5 minutes I was there, I saw Goofy and Pluto.
So if price is an issue, I recommend Lilo and Stitch.
lala1486 09-15-2007, 11:09 PM On a similar note, can someone please let me know what time Goofy's is open from for brunch? We had PS at the Plaza Inn (which we went to previously on a whim and loved) but we cannot get there so early anymore and were thinking about trying Goofys instead. Is it comparable (in matters of characters, interaction, inclusion of face characters and breakfast style food)? And the time is a major issue so if anyone could let us know prior to tomorrow it would be wonderful!
Thank you!

Like I said before, I've never been to Goofy's Kitchen to eat. However, when I stopped by yesterday to see my cousins, it was about 12:40 and they definitely had breakfast food on their plates. Your best bet will be to call 714-781-DINE and ask them if you need to know exactly when brunch starts and ends.
ChipmunkStar 09-16-2007, 01:29 PM The hours for Goofy's brunch (breakfast available the entire time) are 7am-12pm on weekdays, and 7am-2pm on Saturday/Sunday. Dinner hours are 5pm-9pm Daily.
hybrid-god 09-17-2007, 12:59 PM Since my family goes to Disneyland once a year we always hit all of them available! Although we did have to do Chip n Dale's twice which was better because my son got to open up the doors and got some free stuff and a balloon!!!!!! CHEERS DISNEYLAND!!!!:p
bloodnswash 09-17-2007, 03:06 PM We've done the Chip and Dale and Lilo and Stitch character breakfasts. We liked the Lilo and Stitch one the best (and we don't even care for Lilo and Stitch); the energy was incredible!!! And they had tons of characters on hand. It was great. :o) The Chip and Dale character breakfast was our first one and we were very disappointed in it (hardly any character participation with the guests, and other then Chip and Dale, there weren't any other characters on hand).
Mrs Mouse 09-17-2007, 05:07 PM We've done both Goofy's Kitchen and Minnie & Friends. Of the two, I think that I would recommend Goofy's, although it only has a small advantage because they were both great.
The character selection and interaction at both breakfasts was great. There was a wide variety of characters wandering around at both locations and all of the characters that we encountered were very friendly and interacted with us for quite some time.
At Minnie's we saw: Minnie, Captain Hook, Fairy Godmother, Gepeto, Tigger, Eeyore, Pooh Bear, Chip & Dale, and a Penguin from Mary Poppins.
At Goofy's we saw: Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Mad Hatter, Marry Poppins, Max, Baloo and a little ape (whose name I never did know).
The food at both locations was very good as well, but this is where the main difference lies. At Minnie's, it is a buffeterria style meal. You go up to different stations and ask the CM for what you want. At Goofy's, the meal is entirely buffet style.
The food style differs between the two as well. At Minnie's you have your more traditional breakfast items: scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and bacon, made-to-order omelets, waffles with various toppings, fruit, etc. Goofy's had these options too, plus much, much more. Every concievable type of breakfast fare is offered, along with many lunch-type items (tacos, hot dogs, etc) and an entire table full of desert.
If you're choosing based on characters, both choices are a good bet. If you're choosing based on food, I would recommend Goofy's only for the reason that you get far more selection for what you are paying.

I guess they all vary!!!!!

Huh?
Was this just a general observation regarding all of the replies, or a crack at my response?
fronkfam 09-18-2007, 09:14 PM It is nice to hear good things about all of the character breakfasts, but we didn't get much interaction with characters when we did breakfast at the Minnie and Friends last year. Would it just be because we were about the last priority seating of the morning? My kids enjoyed seeing Minnie and one or two other characters, but I was a little disappointed that they didn't get to see more. Atleast it was their first character meal, so they didn't know what to expect.
Thanks!
houseofmouse 09-18-2007, 10:44 PM We also have done Lilo and Stitch for breakfast. We went last December on my DDs' birthday. It was a blast! Playing games with Lilo and the CM and doing the hula and playing instruments on the stage was great! Even myself and my 10 year old son got into it! We took tons of pictures and had ice cream birthday sundaes given to myself(my b-day is Dec. too) and my daughter!
My only complaint was my server who was grouchy once we told her we just wanted the menus and my hubby who didn't want to pay 10.00 for just pancakes! I recommend it!:)
pastrylover 09-19-2007, 01:08 PM Okay I know that on one of the threads about character dining someone gave a link to an article written about all the different options. Does anyone have that link that they can give me? Thanks!
Mitchwebb 09-19-2007, 09:39 PM I now want to try the Lilo breakfast. How long is the walk from the GC Hotel?
Is there a way to get into DCA from PP?
IdahoMike 09-19-2007, 10:01 PM It is a very short walk, Go out the entrance by the front desk area, hang a left, and follow the sidewalk down to Disney Way. Cross the street, and there you are. Lilo & Stitch breakfast was great for us, by the way. Best character interaction we have experienced, and the food was fresh and hot the entire time we were there.
Have fun!
iLuvDisney26 09-20-2007, 01:52 AM Thanks to everyone for posting!! We are leaning towards doing the Lilo & Stitch Breakfast :D
minimom 10-03-2007, 01:40 PM Hello everyone?
Could you tell me which character breakfast you like the most?
I want to do a surprise to my children. I made reservations for Minnie and Pals, but my husband heard the Goofy one was great. Could you help me? Thank you to all.
Drince88 10-03-2007, 01:48 PM Are you talking WDW or DL? Minnie and Pals and Goofy sound like the character meals at Paradise Pier and the Disneyland Hotel.
minimom 10-04-2007, 03:58 PM I guess DL (Disneyland in L.A.). I'm sorry I'm new to the group and I don't know all the abreviations :(
GusMan 10-04-2007, 04:39 PM Welcome to MP. Ive moved this to the DLR boards so you can get some responses.
You may want to take a look at this thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=8117) as well in regards to all the acronyms. :)
minimom 10-04-2007, 04:58 PM Thank you !
