We are hoping to plan a trip to the DLR for March 15-22 and were wanting to stay at the BWPPI because of its' proximity to the park. Unfortunately, the 15th and 16th are not available.

Here's my question...should we book the remainder of our trip, hoping that rooms will open up for the 15th and 16th, or should we book a different hotel altogether?

What would you do?

Wow...I looked at their website...they don't have anything available all of February or the beginning of March!

have you looked at Desert Inn & Suites? It's not much further...just down one or two. http://www.anaheimdesertinn.com/
They ARE available all of your dates.

Desert inn is really only about 100 feet further.

So which hotel is cleaner and better value? I've never stayed at either, and don't really know what to expect.

We are used to staying at either the Residence Inn or Homewood Suites on Harbour, but don't want to have to deal with the ART this coming trip. Is there any hotel close to the entrance of the park that would have a comparable quality of rooms and breakfast (or is that too much to hope for)?

I usually stay at the Ramada maingate, its an easy walk to the gate and a reasonable rate. For an extra $10 per night, you can upgrade to a mini-suite, they aren't super posh or anything, but I found it to be perfect to our needs (I loved having a seperate room for the kids). They also have a light breakfast, it isn't much more than juice/fruit/cereal/danishes, but it is a free breakfast!

I have no idea how they compare to the BWPPI, since I haven't stayed there.

I recommend the Carousel Inn and Suites, which is right close to the cross-walk across from the main gates.

The BWPPI is not that great anyway. The Carousel Inn is nice, so is the Fairfield, and both are right across the street. Hojos is also close, only about a 5-7 minute walk, and it has by far the best reviews...

We have staid at Park Vue a number of times and always had a good experience. After all most hotels all look the same once the lights go down. If you are looking for a place to lay your head down without a lot of fluff and want to save money it is a good place. $63 per night towards the end of January

To see other hotels from an areal view check out this site.

Please don't tell too many people about the Park Vue

OK, so here's what I've done. I found rooms at the Candy Cane Inn for $133/144 per night (rate changes) for two rooms (seven of us travelling) and I found a two bedroom suite at the Homewood Suites for $259 per night.

We love the Homewood Suites...great rooms, great breakfasts and good dinners M-Th plus it's cheaper by about $150 (not including what we'd save on the food bill). We've never stayed at the CCI, but love the proximity.

Which hotel would you choose? I'm leaning towards going back to the HS because we've had such good luck with it before, but dealing with the ART schedule is a bit of a pain. I don't believe the CCI breakfast is as large as the HS, but they do have a bus if we're tired and walking to the hotel wouldn't be an issue.

Any advice from these choices?

For us...it's all about proximity...I would choose CCI over HS, also, CCI is rated #1 out of 99 hotels in Anaheim by Tripadvisor.

We've been tempted to stay there several times...but then I keep going back to the $60/night places...

For us, cost is a consideration, and that's why the HS keeps coming back as a favourite. For four of us on our last five day trip, we calculated that we saved at least $300 by eating at the HS instead of in the park or at restaurants. With seven going on this trip, I'd say we'd be saving at least $700 (we're going for longer)!

Wow! That's quite a cost savings. If you KNOW you'll eat there instead of in the parks, then that's a great way to go. We would have all these grand plans to do that, then we'd slip up and eat in the parks anyway . We don't like to leave during the day - sometimes we bring stuff with us...but that's normally just snacks.

In our past trips we had never taken advantage of the mid-week meals because we hadn't made a point to work around them. This past trip we went back for our usual afternoon swim break, showered then ate right at 5:00 so we were back at the park by 6:00 (no waiting for reservations/food!). There is no possible way for us to to an opening-closing day, so the break for a swim/nap/dinner is really worth it for us...especially when the food is included in the price of the hotel, and the hotel is as nice as the Homewood Suites. :)

BTW...I think I've just answered my own question. We had such a great time and saved so much money at HS, we'd be nuts not to go back. LOL!

See, with us we HATE taking breaks. Of course we go when the park is only open 10am-8pm most days...so taking a break for too long would take too much time away from the parks...our breaks usually just consist of taking a ride around on the Railroad or Monorail and having some snacks.
