Have you seen Epcot's new Canada film? (It officially opens Friday.)
If so, how is it?

I can't say myself, because I won't be there until Oct, but I did want to add that the press release makes it sound like it has substantial updates with a great cast! I am eager to hear a first-hand account. Good question!

Do you know more about what "with a great cast" means? Does this mean there will be speaking actors in circlevision movies (other than the China one)? Or is it the music and narrator this is referencing? It would be really strange if the people in the movie turn and address the circlevision camera. Or even stranger would be if there was some kind of dramatic scene.

Do you know more about what "with a great cast" means? Per the press release:
In addition to new, updated scenes, the film is hosted by Canadian actor Martin Short, who lends his own personal charm, warmth and wit to give this Epcot film a distinctive and authentic flair. Short grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and in his narration, he speaks as a true Canadian "who loves Canada."So we obviously know Short is in it. I'm going to guess he'll play an introductory role, along with narration.

Thanks, Drince! I'm still hoping to read more than a mention. (Anyone?)
And I hope the music is better. That mundane Canada song in the old film stuck in my head more painfully than Small World's tune ever did.

I just got back. The new film is great! Very funny, and very interesting. It gives a great overview of the many beautiful attractions in Canada. The film starts with a voiceover saying "In Canada, it snows 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The frozen landscape is dotted with igloos, which is where the majority of Canadians live..." Then Martin Short interrupts, and takes over.

I second that! I thought it was very entertaining and I liked how they swept from coast to coast highlighting the cities as well as the natural wonders of Canada. I thought Martin Short was very funny, too.

Do you still have to stand for the whole thing? I have to admit I haven't been IN Canada since I was 9 because all I remember was having to stand or lean against metal rails for what seemed like hours while this boring nature documentary played. I realize of course it was only minutes but I was 9 . . . !
I will have to check out the new one. The Canada pavilion is growing on me in my older age, especially after discovering Off Kilter!

Yes, it is still a leaning/standing movie.

We saw it on 8/31 when it opened. I like it! More updated and a few chuckles.
It's a bit shorter than the previous one. I think I saw the old one listed at 22 minutes, this one is 15, so they can sqeeze in some extra showings. We recognized a few shots from the old film, like the mounties, the canal sledding, and some skiing, but they were shorter than before and integrated with the updates. For example, remember the daytime skiing scene where next they show the night skiing with lanterns? Now it's the day skiing, seems a bit shorter, but the next shot is the snowboarders, no night skiing.

The updated movie was really good - Martin Short was a nice, entertaining addition to the show, as was a lot of new footage. You'll definitely recognize a lot of old footage too, but it's not in the original order, so it feels fresher. Excellent job!
It did make me a little wistful for The Making of Me, with Martin talking directly to the audience... *sniffle*

The updated song is done by Eva Avila who won "Canadian Idol" last year.
