View Full Version : Wild Rivers (SoCal) discounts? Bytebear 08-25-2007, 08:46 AM Does anyone know of Wild River discount tickets. I know there was a $5 off for Cox Cable subscribers, bu I can't find the deal online anymore. Bytebear 08-25-2007, 09:13 AM Found it! http://www.ocnow.com/offers/wild_rivers.asp spectromen 09-04-2007, 03:43 PM Did you visit, Bb? I'm curious how the park is looking these days. Haven't been in over 5 years. Just went to Hurricane Harbor this weekend - no need to visit again  VickiC 09-05-2007, 10:06 PM It's a bit shabby looking but still fun. The owners haven't put any money into it because every year it threatens to shut down. The Edge and the Ledge never reopenned after an accident a few years back, they just stand there empty. Other slides seem to only open when the park is very busy, especially Chaos. This was our third year having season passes and I'm debating whether to go back next year for the "final" year. I put that in quotes because every year I've thought will be the final one. My kids love it and it is a pretty relaxing day for me, with a lot less cleanup after coming home than a day at the beach is. spectromen 09-11-2007, 08:30 AM It looks like the Edge & Ledge aren't even on the map anymore, and Chaos must've been built after I was last there. I remember liking the Abyss a lot as well as Congo Rapids, and the fact that they had jacuzzis in a water park, which I'd never seen anywhere else. How's the food prices? Bytebear 09-11-2007, 10:30 PM We didn't eat at the park, but we did go. Our friends found an even better discount through FastTrak. The slides were in need of a little TLC. Unpainted and unsanded (ouch). The one long black slide has been closed ever since I have been going, but the two black slides on the other side were closed as well, but were open the year before. I do like the lazy river and a few of the slides, but some of them really hurt! VickiC 09-12-2007, 02:33 PM The Edge and Ledge still have signs and are definitely still there but are clsoed. Chaos (probably what Bytebear refers to as the two black sides on the far side of the park) rarely opens before noon, and as I said only on busy days. The park could be brought up to date with a couple of new rides and some TLC but that seems unlikely now. Bytebear 09-12-2007, 03:15 PM I have heard that the Irvine company is not renewing the lease this year, but that a deal is in place to have the Irvine company help to have the park moved to a new location. Whether that means just offsetting the cost to remove the slides, or just finding a suitable piece of land, I don't know. They do have plenty of room to expand the park there, and it would be nice to see the lake/pond next to the park integrated somehow, but I suspect that lake/pond is more valuable as waterfront property than as a recreation area. VickiC 09-12-2007, 05:19 PM The lagoon area is used as a day camp, I know people who've sent their kids there, and on weekends as a event venue for company picnics and such. There's talk of moving Wild Rivers to the new Great Park, but that would not be until 2009 at the earliest. |
