Wow...I just called to rent an ECV for our September trip...they have closed their business!! I tried calling a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't get through. I finally got someone today...and she told me they've closed their business!!

So...now to find another company to rent from!

Someone on another site recommended Deckert's (714) 542-5607.

I just reserved two scooters for next June. They will deliver to the hotel before I get there and pick them up after I check out. Cost works out to three dollars a day less than Disney rental.

Then comes the insurance and stuff, pushing the cost higher but well worth it. Best part is... no walking from the hotel to the part either. Those things have a 20 mile range. They give you a charger too, if one is not built into it.

I wonder if I can get "nurf bars" on mine.

Well, hopefully Deckert's is cheaper than scootaround was!! OUCH! For seven days it's $240...for all of our days 17-26th - it's $305!!!!! Century Medical was SO MUCH cheaper.

I don't know how much they cost, but I submitted a thing online at www.alanswheelchairs.com. If I don't hear from them in a couple of days I'll call them. I didn't get a chance to call Deckert's yet - was this afternoon and didn't get a free moment (no naptime for the boys today :( ).

Many people have reported problems with Alans. I know I had three different problems with two ECVs in them during a five day trip. And their service is poor.

Yeah, I have been searching through old threads on ECV Rentals - and even saw myself that I had an issue with them once *sigh* I had a feeling they would be cheaper. But then seeing all the negative reviews, I think I will call Deckert's later today and book with them - as long as their price isn't higher than scootaround or whatever that place was called.

Oh...I need to remember to ask for military discounts - sometimes places have those (and I always forget to ask).

Alright...just called Deckert's Surgical. The lady was very nice.

$40/day
$50 refundable deposit

I asked if there was a weekly rate, and she asked how many days we needed it - I told her we needed it for 10 days - we'll arrive on the 17th around noon and will need it until about noon on the 28th. My price for that: $250 plus the $50 refundable deposit.
Much better than Scootaround!!
